Maybe a bit of slap in the face of four different national championship QBs. Bama Coach drops another media bomb insulting the his QB Alumni contributions.

Says Saban
"You know, we've played here with quarterbacks on good teams that didn't necessarily do anything to win the game," Saban said. "They just didn't do anything to lose it, and I think it starts with that. Those are the kind of plays that we have to eliminate."

Players like to feel like the team is a family. I hate to hear coaches drop stuff like this in the media's lap. True or not, these are comments that are better kept in house. What do Bama's Championship QBs have to do to get respect?

I mean he's right. You don't have to have a superstar Heisman caliber QB to win a Natl Champ. You just need someone who isn't going to turn the ball over and can extend drives consistently. Someone who is smart with the ball and doesn't try to force things when they aren't there. I truly believe if Harris can be that type of guy, this LSU team can do some serious damage this year. Can't wait for the season to start! Geaux Tigers!!

Well he's not wrong. They've had averaged QB's since Saban has been there and dominated the country year in and year out. They have a true freshman in which they will probably name starter. It's amazing how Bama can develop a QB around a game plan, yet Les has not figured it out since at LSU.

Can you imagine Les starting a true freshman QB. It would be a shite show.

I agree. I feel bad that our QB's cop all the heat. No qb could step up and complete only on 3rd and longs or when the run game is stopped..

Bull shite! Bama QB's may not have been great but they have made many great plays. They get badmouthed much more than they deserve.

Well there DB's have been there biggest liability.

I mean, this is not exactly a secret. It's even been true at times for LSU.

It's where the whole game manager title comes from.

Yeah, just amazing that Les - and every other coach not named Saban - can't figure it out.

More is still more and better is still better. When you don't have 5 stars 2 deep at every fricken position on the field it certainly helps that the person that touches the ball every single play is above average.

Making the right checkdown on 3rd and 6 to an open RB/TE for a 1st, hitting a guy in stride on a crossing route, pulling the ball down and taking off on 3rd and 5...getting a 1st down, extending a drive leading to points....ALL things that contribute to winning the game. The comment 'that didn't necessarily do anything to win the game' just reinforces how little stock Saban puts in qb play....
With that said, sure, the second part of his quote 'didn't do anything to lose it' is spot on, but can be applied to any other pos on the field also.
Basically he has always undervalued quality qb play, but that is the first ear he wants to yell in when things are going wrong....honestly, I hope we see a lot of that this year, especially on 5 Nov. GT!

Because Saban said it, anyone who agrees with it automatically hates Les Miles and wants to see him fail.

I personally consider these qualities good quarterback play.

I think there are a few people that think a qb has to have all these crazy stats and be a freak athlete to be a good quarterback. A good quarterback needs to be a leader first.

Says it all right there. End of the day it still comes down to having your players prepared to play week in and out.

Agreed. The amount of things these QBs are asked do at the line is crazy. Pass checks. Run checks. A lot is going on inside the helmet. He's definitely over simplifying these guys contribution. I do see his main point regarding not costing the team. I think guys like this smother the QB. Such a control freak, that they minimize the QB roll, but then critize the QB when he's asked to make a big play. Sometimes coaches are so busy coaching up the game manager, kids are not prepared to step up in critical moments.
