He is listed at 233 anyone know if that's the weight or is it lower. 233 seems heavy for him.

If Darrel puts his mind and heart into this season, he will surprise the football gurus!

My bold prediction is Williams shows out as relief for guice and gets drafted in top 3 rounds....they really compliment each other well in terms of what each can do for a run game.

If he can lose weight and run anywhere in the 4.5 range after he will be a very good back up to DG. Add in little bro, CEH, Nick and LSU has a solid back field.

I think Canada and Robinson are studying these guys hard this offseason and will put all these guys in positions to show off their own talents this season. It will be a surprise season for our backfield boys and girls. Guice and CEH are going to go off. Can't wait

I hope these predictions turn out to be true, but DW has not shown NFL potential to date as an LSU RB.

How so? You don't like his ypc? Bet you don't even know it....

The dude has been stuck behind two all time greats.....

But when he has touched the ball he has made his time count.

People have no clue.

Fournette ran a 4.51

Williams is not as fast as Fournette.

That applies to almost every college running back. For somebody to run in the "4.5 range" is pretty damn fast. Guice runs in the "4.5 range". Fournette runs in the "4.5 range". Kevin Faulk ran in the "4.5 range". Do you really think Darrell Williams will run that fast?

DW's career thus far has sort of ( I said sort of) followed the same path as Justin Vincent. Nice big splash as a freshman and then people complaining of weight gain and speed. Here's hoping DW has an unbelievable year!

More like Spencer Ware I think. Vincent was the feature back by the end of 2003 where as DW was always, at best, 1B to Fournette or also Terrance Magee. I'm optimistic that DW will have a good year if he has indeed shed a few pounds.

That's a fair comparison. DW is not fast and he has no "wiggle". He needs to accentuate his size and power and train to be quick to the line of scrimmage. Quit worrying about 40 times. He needs to be quick for 5 yards and hit the line of scrimmage angry.

DW had 300 yards rushing as a freshman. Vincent was a Freshman AA. The only comparison they have as players is that they gained weight while at LSU. Williams is closer to a player like Kenny Hilliard than he is Vincent.

Lmao at people comparing him to justin Vincent. A 1000 yard rusher his freshmen season and arguably out best offensive player down the stretch. Williams probably doesn't have in his career what Vincent had in 1 season.

lol, no. just no. JV had a 1000 yd freshman season, was MVP of the SECCG and BCS games, and was getting preseason Heisman mention heading into his sophomore year.

Darrel has been at best a complementary back. and he didn't gain weight, he was always a big dude, straight ahead punishing back like Charles Scott. I'm pulling for him to have a big year, I think he and Guice can be a nice tandem.
