What ever happened to this kid? He was the number 1 ILB in the country coming out of highschool and I was excited to see him play. Was he just kinda overrated in highschool or....?

Seems like he was one those that couldn't handle hard work at the collegiate level. Just my guess, because he had the talent and we certainly could've used him.

Yeah I saw that he committed to UAB from Western Arizona CC. That's gotta be the quickest dropoff for a 5 star linebacker I've ever seen.

So what is the reason for you starting this thread if you already knew? To discuss a player that couldn't cut the mustard?

For someone that supposedly couldn't take the La heat, he sure ended up in some pretty warm locations.

The heat was just his excuse for being lazy

Illinois HS football is not good. He was likely overrated due to this.

I live in IL after living in Texas 22 years. It isn't close to that same.

Yes.

Edit: wanted to see if anyone had any additional news on him as well. It's an interesting topic to me. 5 star LB that flamed out ridiculously fast.

This is certainly possible. I think he got a reality check that he was just another guy after being such a beast in HS. The level of competition in Illinois might've fooled him into thinking the transition to college would be easier.

I wish he had stuck it out, but it's also possible he just wasn't comfortable at LSU. It happens.

Ole Cheif will sell him on the DJs and Free haircuts in Aggie Land, he will re-emerge as their next marshmallow in the middle

Was anyone else skeptical of his 5 star status coming out of Illinois?

It took about a week to realize that wasn't the case

I mean I guess if you're a coach or something within a week you would notice he isn't 5 star material. I doubt you knew within a week though.

Right

Of course not. I don't go to practices. Not sure what your point is. He was a highly overrated player. And, people rationalized it by saying he was just having problems adjusting to the heat.

The guy couldn't cut it.

The depth isn't great, but there are plenty of top prospects from the state that live up to their ranking like Ethan Pocic.

It's widely believed Clifton could no comprehend anything Chief tried to impart to him as a LB. So it's Chief's fault. Yep, I'm blaming Chavis.
