So smooth:

"That is still the case," Miles said. "It's hard for me to prematurely. . . I want you to know Danny will take the first snap. I hold the right to make that decision at any point in time I want to.

It's as if he thinks we live in 1950 and the media hasn't gotten any info from practice.

I don't speak Les fluently, but I believe he's probably tired of getting shite for not naming a starter earlier in the week. The team is the only group that needs to know that early. Everyone else can find out on the first series.

LSU head coach Les Miles confirmed that Danny Etling will start for the Tigers at quarterback this Saturday vs. Mississippi State. Per The Advocate:
quote:
"I think Danny can handle the place and the stage and playing in a televised game in Tiger Stadium," Miles said in the video, taken after the Tigers practiced Thursday night.

"I would say that that is still the case," he said when asked if Etling would start. "You know what? It's hard for me to prematurely ... I just want you to know, Danny will take the first snap, but I hold the right to make that decision any time I want to."

I worked for a man like this once. He would never ever make a decision. He would discuss possibilities with me and I would give my opinion based on limited data. I did not know as much as he did about the situation. He would end by saying "I like the decision you made".

It was really difficult discussing agendas with other people because I never really knew what my supervisor wanted to do in any given situation.

Notice how Les waffles on such a simple and important decision as to who will start as quarterback. No wonder his staff is in disarray. That explains a lot of the problems on the sidelines with calls coming in late and time outs not being taken when needed or being taken needlessly.

Or 9 players on the field.

P.S. By failing to make a decision early on the team has no idea who will start at qb and they have to prepare for 2 different types of leadership on the field.

Still can't believe that guy is our head coach. I think even my 4 year old speaks more fluently than that.

Les, clear as mud always.

I'm not going to miss this extreme form of coach speak when he is gone.

No wonder nobody in the team has any direction it seems. I can only guess it is frustrating to be "led" by this man.

Les never waffled for one second. He knew who the starter was before the last game ended. On Monday morning Etling was taking first team snaps. Like many coaches, he doesn't like letting the other team know earlier than he has to. One thing Les cannot be accused of is waffling. Hell, most people on here accuse him of stubbornly sticking to his early decisions.

So misinformed.. Etling is starting.. Etling has taken almost all of the 1st team reps. This decision was made Early in the week. He's just not forthcoming. It was a fairly arrogant comment "I reserve the right" etc.. He's really showing a stubborn faaak all of u attitude. He hasn't handled the heat very well. It's really getting to him more than ever. He's never been like this before.

Truth is they are coddling Harris because he's very fragile right now emotionally. They trying to keep him from mentally checking out in case etling gets hurt. I doubt etling loses starting job to him again. He's perfect for Cameron's offense as long as miles doesn't Faaak woth it

Tulane announced they were changing QBs and named names on Tuesday. This was after scoring 60+ and rushing for over 400.
The coach just said they had a new starter. Period. When asked, he answered that he expected the guy who had been replaced would be a god team player.
I know it's Tulane and that's my point. This ain't magic, it's football and CLM makes it look harder than it is.

Stahp. You people will bitch about anything. The level of coverage and precarious career position of the coach are not comparable between a shitty program like Tulane and LSU.
