Christian LaCouture at nose tackle? Is this going to be ok?

He said he will not be used as a space eater, a lot of moving and attacking. I think it will work out just fine.

I think we see much more of Greg Gilmore this coming season. They will rotate and stay fresh. I think we will be just fine.

um yeah LaCouture makes a great NT

He isn't going to get pressure, but he is very good with eating a block, which is what a NT is supposed to do

Not a pure 0-technique, but Aranda doesn't really do that anyway. He'll shade (0.5?) or play 1-technique - more like the NT in Wade Phillip's 3-4 rather than Belichick's 3-4.

Obviously you don't know how the NT plays in Aranda's defense. You should do a little research before posting.

Or maybe Aranda has not been coaching at LSU that long and many are not really familiar with his style of defense and use this board to get information. And maybe he has talent here that he didn't have at Wisconsin and will be able to things at LSU he couldn't do at Whisky.

I agree with this, but he won't be starting in place of LaCouture, who is a three year starter - of course we're okay with that!

I just printed out a full size standup of Javi, mounted it on foam core board, and fired him.

I think that if this 3-4 transition is legit, Rashad will play the 4I or 5 Tech, not the nose. I think Edwin Alexander is built better to be the nose.

Bottom line is that we need all of the front 7 to be bigger and stronger against bama and Arkansas. Saban's offense wears down everyone's front 7 every year with their size.

I'd rather see him playing safety and doing some exotic blitzing

Not every 3-4 defense is built the same way. Yes, a lot of 34's have a Vince Wilfork type, but more and more are putting a penetrater in there (think Hatcher from Dallas when Wade Phillips was there).

The OP came in with a chicken little mindset that was complelty unnecessary. Aranda's NT doesn't eat space or take up blockers. It is a spot that penetrates and causes havoc. At least understand the scheme before you whine about it.
