Recruiting our region aside, he has the resume of a perfect start-up.

Craig Bohl, who was their coach before this guy and won 3 straight national titles, has done poorly at Wyoming. Fwiw

I agree with the UK or Vandy programs being the "entry-level" SEC jobs, but this guy could be around for 20 years if he could adjust to the SEC football, and he'll be cheap.

I know. But compared to Briles, who is a proven commodity but too close to the bad publicity at Baylor, I rather see us take a chance on a young start-up. It's not easy going into Iowa and beating them with inferior takent. Hell, we couldn't do it with Les at Wisconsin, a team that wasn't as good as Iowa last year.

the problem is the former coach isn't lighting up the world. it kind of sours his chances.

plus he is way down the list, I'm not against a young up start but he needs a better resume than beating up on the fcs.

It might be different if we were talking app state coach who has had some success in the region.

Anyhow, he would be my "Diamond in the rough." And I just looked read about his predecessor Craig Bohl's lack of success at Wyoming, but if Les could win here, almost anyone can.

No, not anyone can win here. It is easier to win here since we will pay for top class assistants and even pay for dog shite ones like bdp and cam.

Curly proved not anyone can win at LSU, however, it is a good spot to win. Dinardo even won here as a ceo coach until he got too loyal with certain staff members.

He might be a good diamond in the rough type guy, but he is probably around 15 to 20 on our list.

You have the top tier of Herman, Jimbo, Petrino

then guys like Fedora, Lane Kiffin, and others even Macintyre from CU.

I would put him below a guy like chad morris or Brohm.

Of course I am saying that "anybody could win here" loosely. And I know that there are many guys out there with better resumes and more coaching experience in and around this region, but he 3 years of beating FBS programs with his FCS squad. I think North Dakota State are the new Appalachian St. giant killers. Going into Iowa and beating them, when his program has already earned a reputation as a tough program to play, means that they are prepared and motivated. I think he has earned consideration outside of our Top-10.

He's lost 50% more games in two years than the guy he replaced did in 3.

He took over a loaded program and had a losing season in his only other year as a head coach.

You are reading too much into that two year period.
