John Chavis just received a 1 year extension of his 3 year contract which will pay him 1.3 million dollars next season at LSU. Cam Cameron is still under his 3 year contract which will also pay him 1.3 Million this upcoming 2015 season.

The highest paid coordinator in the entire big 10 earns 800,000. Brady Hoke earned 2 million less than Les Miles as Head Coach at UM.

The LSU staff is the highest paid staff in the entire country yet some of you seem to believe that Les can just take these guys with him on a whim because he played football at UM 40 years ago.

There is a lot more to this than just Les Miles going to Michigan for "old home week".

I have always though that if Les was going to leave LSU he would have done it in 2007.

On the contrary Miles could have known he was likely to leave and giving his assistants basically a severance year of pay.

If Les leaves he is taking Cam no doubt. I think Chavis retires or retained by new coach

so what? Michigan has money, I'm pretty sure they'd pay well if the coach they hired wanted certain assistants.

Les is a much more experienced and successful coach.

Miles may or may not have interest in Mich (and vice versa) but the 2yr contracts for assistants will have absolutely zero bearing on it

THE COORDINATORS ARE UNDER CONTRACT TO LSU.

Not Les Miles. There would be no "severance pay" if they chose to leave. They would simply violate their contract. Then they would have to go to a school with Miles and each take a pay cut.

Sounds logical to you? Not likely to happen.

So you think that Miles would take a job at Michigan knowing he has to pay far less to his assistants than he pays them now and all of them will just JUMP at chance to take pay cuts and follow good Ol' Les home to Michigan?

That's a laugh riot.

It doesn't work like that.

Les will make a decision best for him and his family.

Chavis has said several times LSU with Miles is likely his last stop. He might retire.

Cameron may go with Les, may go somewhere else.

In any case it's not a deal where LSU pays the contract if either get a job somewhere else. The contract with LSU amounts to a personal service contract.

If either agree to a contract for anyone else the most LSU would be out would be the difference between the 2 contracts.

In any case as I said none of that will have any part in the decision IF there is even one to make, for Les.

Well if they are let go. LSU would be in violation of the contract. The most likely scenario would be a new coach bringing in his guys.

No LSU wouldn't be out a dime if either chose to take less money and work elsewhere. LSU is only obligated to pay the contract if they work at LSU for the stipulated time period. In this case 2015. The contract is notransferable in any part to another employer. Any difference between the two is not LSU's responsibility unless LSU basicly traded them to another school but the school would only pay part of the contract value of 1.3 million. If either Chavis or Cameron CHOOSE to break the contract without LSU's agreement the contract is null and void.

Losing Cam would not matter to me, so far he has not lived up to his hype. I wondered why he got fired in the pro's.

I do not think Miles is at all like Saban . he is not going anywhere , he is looking for players who want to play football @ LSU , It is time to pay the fiddler GEAUX TIGERS !!

Really? You must have missed all of 2013 when LSU's offense set records for offensive production and had TWO 1,000 yard WRs.

You seem to be like many LSU fans who want to judge Cam Cameron and Miles based on 2014 when the offense started 4 Freshmen and a RS Soph. Then you cant seem to understand the limitations
caused by starting so many young players.

Who is talking about choosing homey? If Miles leaves and Chavis is let go by the new coach (LSU, for the slow folks) then he would get paid.

But the all caps was a nice touch. It really shows you know what you are talking about.

Chavis is NOT retiring. He goes to zero buyout at the end of January. I would be surprised to see him at Texas A&M, South Carolina or Clemson if Venables leaves.

If Miles goes to Michigan he have them buyout Cam's contract. You guys aren't keeping him, and would have a small chance at keeping Chavis depending on the hire.

Do you think Miles was aware of an upcoming Michigan opening in January of 2013?

Chavis received the extension in January 2013, the letter says.

Would either of them become the new HC? Has Chavis ever been a HC? Cam?
