If the Championship starts on Monday how in the hell could most of the teams still in it pitch their best pitchers with this format? I know if we make it we will have Lange which is huge. But just for conversation lets say Vandy makes it. We beat them the first game and they take the second.

This means they have pitched Buehler and Fulmer and they are not available for the Championship series. I know pushing the series back to lets say next weekend would really stretch this thing out for too long. I guess I just never really thought about not having your ace pitchers for a Championship series. Anyway, Go Tigers!

It's still better than a single game.

And you're not alone in your feelings. Many people would rather a regional/super type format where you basically have two regionals at TDA then the champ series the next week. It stretches it out so much though. The whole season would have to be shortened to make it work.

But, but... It's the right decision to bench your ace for game 1.

Let. It. Go.

It was the right decision. We'll have Lange for game 1. If we make it there, whether we face Florida or Virginia, we will have a huge advantage.

It was not the right decision... And the regulars like you are the ones spewing this nonsense and getting the casual posters to go along with you.

Is Vandys Ace a freshman that has missed a series and battled arm tightness/soreness throughout the season?

What guarantee do you have that we aren't in the same exact position or worse?

It's no different than the lineup change. It looks good because it "worked". The pitching call looks "bad" because people believe that it didn't. You're just pulling assumptions out of your arse.

I agree let it go and I agree if and if we would make it huge advantage to us having Lange for Game 1.

If you want to use that as your excuse I can understand that, but I don't think that held the most weight in the decision.

It's so damn simple. Lange is your best pitcher. He's your best choice against all the teams... TCU, Vandy, CSF... But we can't pitch him every game. And the first two games are weighted the EXACT SAME. So the decision comes down to who you think Poche will be better against. And that was TCU. Period. That's the choice you make. That's the reason. It was correct.

I posted I didn't like it when it was announced... I still believe it was the wrong move. And I am over it, but I wanted to bring it up to some of you regulars after the frenzy had died down.

It reminds me of Tennis in a way... Teams do not flip their ladder unless they know they are out matched. At some point you have to say, "our number 1 is better than your number 1".

I think everyone who thinks he didn't is shortsighted.

NO ONE is arguing Lange isn't the best choice vs. ANY team. That wasn't the basis of the decision.

It was not the correct call... I say either way has its pros and cons. The games are weighted the same, but the competition isn't. Top to bottom we should be able to match up and I would rather Poche go up against someone's Sat starter rather than an ace.

This isn't a weekend three game series though. You have to approach it likeba tournament and look at ALL the variables.

Exactly.

He's not facing a starter. He's facing a lineup.

And did a damn good job until his derp. He was perfect through 3. That doesn't happen, which had nothing to do with his pitching, and we might be 2-0 right now. But because he made 2 errors, idiots are coming out of the woodwork claiming this was dumb.
