Per Chandler Rome tweet:

An MRI revealed a 100 percent tear of #LSU pitcher Alden Cartwright's UCL. He needs Tommy John surgery.

Yeah that puts him out likely for next season as well, may be a LSU career ender

at least part of it more than likely, but the recovery time for TJ isn't nearly as long as it used to be

@LSUTigersVoice: CPM is hopeful that Latz will throw to live bats in simulated game on Wed. Then if all is well expect to see him next week on Tue or Wed.

@Chandler_Rome: At his First Pitch Luncheon, Paul Mainieri says Riley Smith will throw a full bullpen today. Could return next week along with Latz. #LSU
Would be huge if both come back next week.

Especially if smith doesn't pitch like he did before the injury. That was pretty bad.

I'll never understand how this happens... It was just another pitch

Anyway though I wish the best for Alden and that he makes a full recovery and can come back next year.

Must be sort of like a weak link in a chain. Football players can get hammered by other players all game, and then with no contact tear an ACL.

Is Andrews going to do it? He's getting up there.

He takes the position that a spate of these is evidence of pitcher abuse.

Who was our last Tommy John pitcher while he was playing for LSU?

We could use the same Bugg we saw for Auburn.

I read that's a myth. They're stronger from the rehab, not from the surgery itself. However ell has actually had TJ surgery so he can probably elaborate.

Joey Bourgeois 2013

Joe Broussard 2014

Both had excellent seasons following a redshirt year of rehab.

It would be great to add Alden to that list.
