Cardinals looking to make Mathieu a long term deal

Will make him possibly the highest paid safety in football. LINK
quote:
The production alone is scary, but the emotional value Mathieu has brought to the team only increases his price tag this offseason. He is traveling with the Cardinals throughout the postseason and will be in attendance Sunday in Charlotte, North Carolina. So long as the medical reports check out, this seems to be a match made in heaven for Arians and Mathieu. And it also looks like a well-deserved pay day for a would-be first-round pick that turned his life around.

What a great story. Could have had a different ending. So happy for him.

Good for him. It's refreshing to see somebody learn from their screw ups instead of continuing down the wrong path.

What if I told you he would go from highest player in football to highest paid safety in football?

Classy move on their part to do this now.
It's the right thing to do with the way he's played

Honey Badger will always be one of the all time greats to play for LSU. He and Patrick Peterson are great ambassadors for our university.

He is without a doubt one of my favorite Tigers. That guy was so much fun to watch as a Tiger and the way he could just rally the team was unbelievable.

Went to Tad Gormley in City Park to watch the playoff game St. Augustine hosted against West Monroe Mathieu's senior year.
There was D1 and NFL talent up and down both teams sidelines (a lot of it). West Monroe won a close, hard fought game on the road, but Tyrann was BY FAR (and it wasn't close) the best player/athlete on the field. He played defensive back, wide receiver, kick returner and some quarterback, and he excelled at all positions. I left that game convinced he could have played the wide receiver position in the SEC, and play it well. Best high school playoff performance I've seen from an individual player, followed by Lebrandon Toefield in 1999 against Winnsboro High School (a very distant second).
