I love that play at the 1:15 mark. First drive. First TD.

I don't see those jet sweeps working well against the better SEC defenses. Teams like Florida or Bama will eat them alive with their team speed

Did we get slower in the process? Speed is relative at this level - everyone has speed. The point of the jet sweep is to attack the edges and force a defense to cover it. If a defense decides not to shift they lose the numbers game every time. All of it is designed to wear out a defense and cover the entire field. By contrast the LesCam offense allowed a defense to focus on between the tackles and the deep pass. Nothing else was needed.
ETA: the drive after 1st & 25 was legit.

How many times did we see Miles get in 1st or 2nd and 20+ and then just throw it 2 or 3 times for no gain. It was like as soon as they got "off Schedule" they would just give up the drive and get ready to punt.

I just don't know if a bunch of that sideline sweep stuff will work as much on the faster SEC defenses.

This is where i am as well. It looks like it might be fun to watch, but im skeptical.

Pitt's running game was awful too. I couldn't count how many times the running back would just not cut and decide 5yds was enough. I don't see ANY of our backs doing that. I don't see Chark giving up easily. I think with Etling, the 5yd passes will be great. I prefer a normal passing game compared to the hail mary bs we became over the last few years. A lot of those plays fooled the cameramen. Nice job OP.

Yeah I was calling for those types of plays and tempo in the 2011 natty against Bama. Not only did we not see it when we know it works against Bama we didn't even see lee or mett and we punted on 4th down late and were never in hurry up. Thanks les for quitting.

Yeah... Pitt's O talent is hardly close to LSU's so when posters talk about talent upgrade in SEC defenses they aren't wanting to mention the upgrade that you get on O with Chark running those sweeps or Guice at RB.

Heck, it stuck out to me how little talent Pitt had on offense in those videos. Everyone looked slow including the defense that they were playing against.

Nonsense, I recall quite a few terribly executed WR screens.

Not sure how I feel about passing on 3rd and short. If we can consistently convert it, great. Unfortunately, I see a couple missed passes and the fanbase will start to get rowdy over it.

That misdirection play on the last series (around 13:30) was a thing of beauty.

I'm fairly certain that the coaching staff will contact you about what to do if they start having problems on 3rd and short. Hang in there bro, your payday is coming.

you just proved my points and another posters points about not understanding X and O and obviously have not watched much football. If you had you would see what UF, OSU and Au have done against good defenses with horizontal and vertical games using whole field.

Nobody ever said all the jet sweeps and toss sweeps will work. It makes them defend it by spreading them out. everybody with any football knowledge should understand this by now.

This year I'm doing the same only with Canada's offense at Pitt. I'll try and make more the next couple weeks. Enjoy.

Thanks! Good study guide for whats to come. Couple of takeaways from that.

1 I love to see the multiple look plays and the attempts at deception. This will not fool everybody but may open up some rushing attempts.

2. This offense will tire a lot of players. We have and will need a lot of skill position players to keep legs fresh. I thought Pitt offense became less effective as the game went on but still was able to hit some plays when needed.

3. This offense will absolutely bitch stomp lesser opponents due to depth issues.

4. This offense is still a posession offense. I like that but I dont think they stretch the field vertically enough.

5. Lanard Fournette could do well as the motion guy. He has the size and speed combo like #10 for Pitt.

What you all think?
