I hope the defensive coordinators can figure out how to stop that crossing route. USC ran that play 5 times and got BIG yards every time. Whats the problem? If we don't figure it out George and Alabama will use and abuse!!

when we send the lb blitz on 3rd and short, the crossing route will kill us. when we send the l.b.'s on 3rd and long, we will get to him before the route has a chance to develope.

It got us for a touchdown but it was a hell of a pick play by USC. We shut that down in the 2nd half fwiw.

Each crossing route was successful because South carolina picked up the blitz.

So now you want to stop the crossing route but not blitz?

You frickers need to make up your minds.

it was much clearer on the touchdown, but they were sending #11 to set a screen on the ref, and the TE was using that clog as to keep a gap between him and the LB. They probably still would've completed those passes, but they would have been limited gains.

They figured it out. We had a cornerback on the tight end on those short yardage plays late in the game and it didn't get anything for them.

I think we should assume by now no safety or linebacker on our team can cover a receiver. I know C. Jones is in on nickel and dime packages from time to time, but I cannot recall seeing him in on many plays, and he NEVER seems to be covering a tight end or slot receiver who is getting a ball thrown his way. I always wonder why McCray and not Jones is on these guys making catches, but maybe Jones is out there at the same time on a different receiver? Or is there a perception that Jones is not a good cover safety? What's the deal?

Correct.

What bothers me so much about these people on this board is alot of times it's more of LSU fricking up and sucking rather then the opposing team being successful at what they run.

South Carolina picked up quite a few blitzes and leaving the short crossing routes wide open. With the safeties and corners 10 yards down the field already, you're stuck. South Carolina did a great job with that all night.

But of course, it was LSU's fault because "they didn't disguise their blitzes well enough." I don't even know what the frick that means to be honest.

every team we play sucks and should be held to net 0 yards and no points, just like when Saban and Muschamp were here.

We need to play more zone. Our four safeties have trouble with man defense.

Make up your mind....

you guys want to play zone one week. You guys want to blitz the other.

Blitz while in zone and you give up the deep ball if the line picks up the blitz successfully.

I've been saying that too, and it looks like that's what they did to try and slow the crossing stuff. Though I was watching a replay last night and it looked like a zone blitz on the drag route that they scored on. But then it still looked like a LB had man responsibility on that, maybe it was some kinda combo coverage

then the guy covering the back should be watching for this...and we'll also have a S or CB free now to help him in the flats

You're thinking Sheppard getting a late jump and then getting picked by the ref.

I've been saying that too,

i was thinking we should use more zone after UF

if we're only goign to rush 4, then we need more zone behind it

and USC was runing the drag-cross effectively, blitz or no blitz, in the 1st half

it was just slow reaction by our LBs and Coleman

i noticed that on teh replay last night

sheppard had a lil hook zone in the middle and we had, coleman i believe, playing man on the TE

both whiffed in coverage
