I fully expect Victor to be a 8 point 6-8 rebound guy. That's great. If he gets 8 rebounds a game, he will be top 10 in the league. Our bigs outside of Ben combine for 8.5 rebounds a game. I would die to get one guy who can average at least 6

I've heard him compared to Greg Cook by people who have been at practice and seen him play. Not a leaper like Mickey but more of a physical guy inside who can do the dirty work. IMO thats just what this team needs.

No way he gets 10 boards a game. I have seen him play many many times. Never impressed and plays kinda soft.

Idk if many expect 10 boards a game. I don't think 8 points and 7 rebs is absurd. And I've seen him play and I actually feel the exact opposite. It's sort of crazy that one player has so many different perspectives about him.

The starting lineup should be this the rest of the year.

Simmons
Victor
Quarterman
Hornsby
Gray

What did Gray contirbute last night to earn anything but a spot on the end of the bench. He had two crucial turnovers at crunch time. Johnny even sat his butt, until he ran out of players.

Gray has been playing great all season and had one bad game last night.

Hard to put up good rebounding runners when you can't even force a missed shot

Didnt see final box score but at one point towards the end of the game we had 6 offensive rebounds to Houston's 16

EDIT - seems it ended 9 to 17

We missed 34 shots, Houston missed 35 shots...

Victor's m.o. is to be a tough-minded guy in the paint; defending, working the glass, garbage buckets. Not as much of a high-flyer as Mickey but tough and athletic enough to give those driving the paint a pause. If he averages at least 25 minutes per game I can see him grabbing 7-10 boards a game; certainly an improvement over anyone not named Ben Simmons, at this point.

Gray has been solid most of the year. He can handle the ball better than he did last yr. He plays solid D. I would either start him or Patterson. Patterson can play D as well and has a decent shot. He had one bad game. Blakeny is a shooter or nothing. Right now he needs to be on the end of the bench

It's a shame Hornsby had an amazing game like that, and we still couldn't beat Houston. That's gotta be discouraging.

Victor really needs to be a Mickey type of player that makes guards fear to drive to the goal.

No....LSU needs to defend the floor like every other college team in the country and they wouldn't have to have a "shot blocker" bail them out like Mickey did the last two years.

No, what you need to is to have your guards stop dribble penetration. The more blocked shots you have the more people are getting to the rim and it isnt really a good sign.

The problem isn't the players, it's coaching. Jones has now proven, it doesn't matter how much talent you throw out there, without coaching, it's worthless.

Everybody around here who said Calipari isn't a good X's and O's coach, how do you feel about those statements now. Somehow he manages to get his team (mostly freshman and soph) to play defense and rebound every year, maybe he holds them accountable when they don't do these things.

I agree and with the turnover he has on his roster every year it's very impressive how he's able to get his teams to gel and buy into his philosophy. I don't know what the hell JJ's philosophy is.
