If we run the table before sec play, do we break the top 25?

We'd be 11-2. It'd be very close. We don't really have any big names until then though so we won't get a bump from beating any good teams.

Likely by default of other teams losing. LSU's OOC schedule sucks pretty bad.

Probably not. We almost always lose a stupid game we shouldn't during the holidays.

Not likely. The remaining OOC schedule isn't good

Probably not, we dont play anybody even decent. We are going to need to win the first few conference games too.

I think he meant to say from here on out, which is does, our RPI will drop like a rock even with 5 straight wins.

I seriously doubt it, but the good news is that does not matter in order for us to achieve an absolutely attainable goal, to make the tournament. We just have to be considered one of the 45-48 best teams in the country.
But losing any of the 4 remaining OOC games would hurt very badly.

Actually that' not accurate. Their current NCAA RPI is 17 which is 2nd in the SEC to UK. Depending on what index you use, their SOS is anywhere from 10th to 37th so far which is very good for this time of year. Those numbers will dip some between now and league play but they should comfortably stay in the top 40 RPI if they win at least 10 games in conference.

Given our current injury problem, beating UAB on Thursday in BHam could be a challenge.
Whether we are ranked or not is not really that important now or in mid-January either..

I'd say be just outside top 25 win first 2-4 SEC games and we will be. We really need to run the table the rest of our OOC. Thursday is very scary right now.

Is Dominic Magee still a chance to come in January?
Posted on 12/16/14 at 10:03 pm to GeauxTime9
He won't play but he can be in the program and practice and sit the bench and watch.

Nope. LSU basketball the last 20 years = no respect.

I don't think we break top 25 before SEC play. LSU had a solid win against SHSU and lost a vote in the AP poll... Beating scrub teams doesn't get you more votes. I'm okay playing some scrubs to beef up the win total, but it won't get you the exposure of beating power5/Top50 teams.

According to SoS's post yesterday, we have a good shot at starting 2-0 in SEC play. I think if we win out in the OOC, and get the first 2 SEC games, then we could crack the top 25.

The key words you used is "so far." The next 4 games are against the # 315, 207, 251, and 266 ranked RPI teams. Their SOS will not be that high going into SEC play.
