Can someone explain the sec west tiebreaker
Posted by RickySauwce on 10/26/14 at 1:57 pm00
My friend said LSU would win the sec west in this scenario he layed out and I was wondering what are the scenarios that could play out and LSU find themselves in Atlanta.
Here's my friends scenario
Lsu has to win out.
Auburn beat Ole miss next week.
Alabama lose to us but win out at beat miss st and auburn.
Ole miss beat miss st in the egg bowl.
But I know for sure auburn and ole miss can't lose any more than the games they've lost or I mentioned above. If all that happens it comes down to highest ranked team

This isn't the case anymore. It comes down to a bunch of different assessments of common opponents and then cross divisional opponents...

I also wonder if you end up with 5 teams in the SEC west with 10-2 records (one with an 11-2 record after winning the SEC championship) where every team has an undefeated record outside of those 5 with a 2-2 record against the other 4, then how many go to the playoffs? And how would they choose?
Sadly, I suspect the answer is SEC champ and Bama, because Bama... (frick Bama!)

A two loss team from the west that does not win the conference ain't getting in the playoff.

I suspect that you are right, even though the two loss teams in the SEC west would clearly have a decided advantage in SOS and are likely better than some teams that will get in. I think the biggest issue would be which of the 4 would you take? Whichever got selected, the other three would have a valid complaint. I suspect that is reason enough to leave all 4 out.

I say we boycott the selection committee.. succeed from the NCAA. cut out the garbage from the SEC East. Give Florida State a bid to join our new conference (making them the 8th team) and have a season ending SEC west tournament and crown the victor national champions

Ole miss suffers a let down and loses next week to auburn. We beat bama next week and they have miss at and aub at home. Ole miss beats miss st at home last game of the season. Angels in the outfield-black kid-"It could happen."
