Not at all. It has become a rant mantra somehow.

Greedy didn't play as well as Vincent. I thought they all played well.

Toluver has been torched but the rant never acknowledges that, i suppose they are ensnared with his recruiting ranking

If they play the same position, then I don't see how it is physically possible for them NOT to compete for the same spot.

In the scope of playing against bigger/modern receivers then Greedy is the right choice. I was really impressed on how he played the ball (he looked back prior to the ball being thrown) as opposed to trying to be disruptive by just waving his hands in the receiver's face. I know he's a freshman but the way he played the ball looked like he was a DB in the NFL. I liked it.

Literally the worst logic in the world. I am convinced only 12 years old post this type of dumbshit.

Example: It doesnt matter that DJ Welter was better than me, he was still the worst MLB we have had in 30 plus years.

Greedy can definitely play for Jackson's spot if Jackson continues on his trajectory and Greedy remains consistently elite. Bottom line, Jackson is a great athlete but sometimes gets beat and misses tackles seemingly from poor fundamentals. Having said that, I'm not willing to say Greedy will supplant Jackson as a starter after one game. Jackson is what he is but the guy has come up big for us in the past and I wouldnt want to see him off the field.

I will say I definitely don't Jackson returning punts. But, hey, I'm just an a-hole voicing his opinion like most on this site.

I'm not a tolliver fan. But this is about donte. If he is our best, then we are the weakest we have been at cb in a long long time.

I'm sure yall will down vote me to all hell, but I'm no huge fan of Donte Jackson. Elite speed, I know, but I feel like he never turns around to see the ball and is the only guy on the team that doesn't wrap up at all! He's too busy trying to be "the next Honey Badger" to make a tackle. His WR ends up going another 5-10 post catch until a safety catches up to him. I know Greedy backs up Tolliver on the right side of the field, but any chance we'll see him get reps on the left side over Jackson?

If Tolliver doesn't straighten his butt out it may not matter, he is on ice, not thin but getting there.

Same with Tre White his junior year. He got burnt by someone, I can't remember, and everyone started acting like he wasn't our best cover corner since his freshman year. They were saying he's great in run support, but not in coverage.
'Twas ridiculous.

Donte is scared of contact and honestly doesn't have the feel to play defensive back. He would have best utilized as a gadget offensive player. His athleticism makes him serviceable

How many times did BYU target his receiver when he was in one on one coverage? Donte has played his heart out for the purple and gold. He had offers from USC, Oklahoma, Georgia, Notre Dame and many other schools. However, he CHOSE LSU and has contributed to many wins. Do as you please because it's a free country, but I will never trash a kid who has represented LSU well and gave it his all busting his arse in 90 degree fricking heat and training year round while most of us experts are sitting in our homes and or offices with air conditioning turned on. Why don't you suit up and play his position since you can do so much better and he is so meh? If the coaches see a better player in practice they will play him because they want to keep those big salaries. The backups are always better! What a fan base.

Damn man. Some time the back up IS actually better. Its not bashing DJ to want what's best for the team. I have no idea if greedy is better, but donte has some issues. He's not bad by any means, but we could have better

I've felt the same way for a while, I'm not really thrilled about Donte at CB. I feel like sometimes he doesn't put forth a lot of effort.

The hate on Donte is amazing. Always have to hate on someone even though our team did fantastic. He gave up a slant in zone coverage (not his assignment), then gave up a catch on a curl for a 10 yard gain. Ever thought maybe the QB didn't throw much that way because he couldn't? Greedy makes 1 play and he's a savior. I guess months and months and multiple years of competition, Donte just happened to get the nod.
Get over it

So you have no idea if Greedy is good, but we should start him over Donte because...well because you think. Does anyone in this thread have any actual stats of things he has given up?

I agree. Donte is a solid cb not afraid to be physical. He will have a great season. I look for multiple picks and pbu.

Sorry butt, just being lazy and replying to you. I asked on page one how DJ graded out last year or the first game this year... no answer.

Does anyone know who the best open field tackler is in the secondary?
I'm not saying I know who's the best, but I'm interested in opinions. I'm pretty sure DJ is a pretty good tackler in the open field, saw it a bunch last year.
I see some folks say he's not very physical and doesn't wrap up.... well damn, he weighs 175 lbs, it's not like he can square up on ball carriers and try to drive through them!

Anyone know how many touchdowns he gave up last year? From reading this thread I'm assuming it's more than 6. BTW, is 6 too many?

If Donte could just figure out how to tackle and stop trying to fly into people at a poor angle he would be elite.

Don't even has come up and made lots of tackles around the LOS. People believe what they want to believe. Is one of the craziest phenomenoms in society. You can see one think and think another

I agree people see what they want and gave different perceptions. That's why I asked how many TD's he gave up last year.
BTW, you ok?
I do believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, sometimes I'm just curious if there is credible information to back up their opinions.

You inspired me, instead of believing what I wanted to believe I looked up the facts. I did t find everything I was looking for, but it looks like a handful of you guys want to replace our most productive defensive back from last year. Weird....
