If Trindon can play DE, no reason to believe that Collins wouldnt be a tough possession receiver across the middle.

Yes and he should wear it!

Miles taught him that a lot of CHEST goes a long way!

Michigan's QB wore 98 all year so don't see why not. I'm sure it's some kinda NCAA request form to be filled out though lol

According to NCAA rule book, Rule 1 Section 4 Article 1 recommends numbering as follows for offensive players;
Backs 1–49
Snapper 50–59
Guard 60–69
Tackle 70–79
End 80–99
Otherwise all player must be numbered 1–99, the NCAA makes no stipulation on defensive players.

Doing a quick check of the NCAA rules, Section 4 - Article 2...NO

The "end of the offensive line" must be from 50-79.

the interior of the line can change according to Article 2, but the end of the line must be 50-79

The difference is that 98 is an "eligible" number.

If I had my guess, I would say that because of the eligibility issue NCAA would not allow. Know that there are some special rules that apply on punts with eligible and ineligible numbers.

I do vaguely remember a situation a few years back where I think they allowed an OL to wear a number for one game as a tribute.
