One of the problems is that Miles is so risk averse, he sees our passes as potential punts (if intercepted). That's why over 1/2 of our throws are 40-50 yard fly patterns.

Gordy Rush said it this morning. The receivers aren't running routes well enough to use the whole route tree.

That doesn't make the route tree terrible. That means our WRs aren't performing. What routes have we not seen yet? Just because we don't throw it to a guy doesnt mean the WR didn't run that particular route.

It sounds great and like a sure fit on paper but the WRs aren't up to par IMO. The offense needs to isolate DBs and let Brandon pick apart the defense by choosing a WR before the play. I think the what would take this offense to the next level is using the TEs consistently and letting them become primary receivers.

Deep routes require time, and when the OL can't seem to pass block to save its life, especially both of our "stud" tackles, then this will fail miserably.

On top of that, you add in that the wideouts have played horribly, and you get this mess.

How many passing TD's have been called back due to penalty?

Same question on other long completions.

Bingo. This a good point. Deep routes do require time and we need to improve on pass blocking. It appears that has not been a major focus on the offense but should focus on it. We run block very good but have to improve on pass blocking.
With the amount of talent DB we have, passing should be very good since the offense is going up against one of the best DB's group in the nation

When we had Xavier Carter and Bennie Brazell, true OLYMPIC athletic speed, they should have rotated them in running the fly pattern EVERY down. Wouldn't even have needed to throw to them but once a quarter or so, just to respect it. Talk about wear out the DB's. The track coach would have appreciated the extra reps as well.

We threw deep in the middle because the safeties were supporting the run. We do this for 2 reasons, to take advantage of what the defense gives us and to make the safeties stay back.

If we had Dwayne Bowe those passes would have been really big gains, but unfortunately we don't have Bowe.

Well, Peyton Manning did say that was the key to developing young quarterbacks, but we always have our blocking TE's on the field, so the catching TE's are watching.

Can we get someone who can do both?

It is supposed to look like thr early to mid-90s Dallas Cowboys under Norv Turner and Ernie Zampese, who were from that same tree. Emmitt Smith touched the ball the most and when Aikman had to throw it was a timing system. LSU should bring in Michael Irvin to coach these receivers.

I am just as frustrated as most LSU fans because our passing game is god awful but the major problem is our receivers are not catching the ball. If receivers are not catching the ball don't you think a coach has to make a tough decision and run (well it is not too much of a tough decision when you have LF7). I think if receivers start catching the ball the coaches will have more confidence and start throwing more and guess what LF7 will have more holes to run through

coaching the system required a lot of repetition.

If I'm reading into this, wouldn't this be extremely hard to implement at a college level then? You have QB's and WR's that are are around for 3 yrs (hopefully 4). And they generally only start regularly in 2 of those years.
