Does anyone think the Washington injury opens the door for roddy to move back on D? He was one of the guys I thought had immense potential just needed some technique polishing. Is he just better suited at TE?

Huh? Jeter, Moreau, Smith and Washington maybe? What you think Roddy was the only TE?

Don't be surprised if we run a lot of tackle eligible with Malone, Brown or Okeke.

I don't know why my post was deserving of a downvote as it was a legitimate question that was asked, but I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions... Even trolls

I would think so; unless Roddy is gonna be a starter at TE I don't see how he doesn't. We have a lot of bodies at TE.

I never understood the move in the first place. I guess they are looking for a Dillon Gordon clone. I think they have to consider moving Roddy back. LSU will still have 5 TEs and 3 of them have some good experience.

Have another downvote for being so sensitive to downvotes.

Different positions. If I had to guess I would think Bower gets cross trained at both Buck OLB and F-OLB. Maybe they also move MJ Patterson and Buck for depth. Honestly I think Sci Martin just gets more reps. My guess to what the LB depth chart will look like

Buck OLB-Key, Bower, Martin
Rover ILB-Riley, Alexander
Mack ILB-Beckwith, White
F OLB-Bower, Thompson, Divinity

I dont see Roddy having an impact this year, anywhere really. So plan for the future. We're bringing in high level lineman and running a 3-4. Roddy isnt exactly made any position on the DL in a 3-4. We prolly wont be signing a TE this class, so I say leave him there unless they think he can have an impact this year

Why the hell would you bring in a stud like Jamal Pettigrew in the 2016 class then stick a guy like Roddy who has always been a DE at tight end?? Makes no sense

We have enough tight ends damnit. Let the kid get after the quarterback

Agreed, why not just have recruited another highly ranked high school tight end instead of forcing a 4 star DE recruit to play out of position as a TE?

What is the deal with Les's obsession with forcing position changes on highly ranked and recruited high school players? No need to force a position change on a player, just recruit another player at the same position you were going to force him to move to. It makes much more sense for everybody involved.

-We lose Jeter and Smith after this season
-that leaves us only Moreau, Washington, and Pettigrew on the roster next season.

As often as we use 2 TE sets you can't only have 3 on roster, and it doesn't look like we are signing one this class.
Not too mention Roddy at TE gives us two physical TEs and two pass catching TEs.

Roddy would be behind these players this season on the 3 man front:
-Godchaux
-Neal
-Herron
-Gilmore
-Valentine
-Clark
-Lawrence*
-Logan*
-Alexander*

^ that's 9 guys for a 3 man rotation. We will lose some of these guys for 17 season but replace them with studs like Shelvin and possibly Wilson, as well as Farrell and Moffit. We aren't replacing the TEs it seems.

They could very well move him back, but I don't think its a necessity just bc loc is out this year.

Exactly, because for whatever reason the tight end is very rarely involved in our passing game. All they seem to function as, is a 3rd offensive tackle.

We already have a lot of good athletes at the tight end position, and we they are still way underutilized. We ought to involve the tight ends much more, but we have all been saying that for years. Les said he is going to change the offense, so using the tight ends will be one clear indication of whether that is really going to be the case or not.
