BYU guy here...I'm a little nervous for this game

First off, just wanted to say that I always root for LSU, especially when y'all play Alabama. I need to see an Alabama vs LSU game in Baton Rouge at least once just to experience the greatest atmosphere in college football.
I'm a little nervous for this game, not necessarily about the W/L result but more how it will effect how we play against Utah and Wisconsin following in weeks 2 and 3, our schedule is brutal each September and I'm not expecting a W in this game (but really want to beat Utah and Wisconsin at home). LSU has some defensive athletic freaks and always has had them so keeping Tanner Mangum healthy to play against Utah and Wisconsin is certainly a concern which leads me to ask about Arden Key, is he likely to be eligible? I was reading chatter about him possibly not playing this coming season but wasn't sure what was the latest on that. To me this game has a similar feel to our 2009 game against Oklahoma, except LSU is always more physical (and more athletic?) then Oklahoma so I am expecting a low-scoring, hard-fought game (BYU can also surprise folks with our physicality due to our Polynesian players). Anyways, this game will be an interesting test to see how our teams have improved and to see how it affects our 2017 season going forward. Go Cougars!

Dude no one has football on the brain. We are still in baseball and hosting game 2 of the supers. Most likely it will be 2 weeks before most are thinking about football

This game will be closer than people think. 27-21 LSU

We're more of a baseball school. But this should be a good game.

There are a good bit of posters who couldn't give 2 shits about baseball, even at this time of year. And friendly opposing fan threads always get good traction

No one seems to have definitive information as to whether or not Key will play the season opener or what kind of shape he will be in.
Obviously, if Key plays, he can be a game decider.
Many are worried that our returning starter at QB, Etling, has regressed under Canada's new offense.

Sums up Les' entire tenure here except for 2011

That's a tough stretch to open the season. Good luck ..... in the other two.
Regarding LSU vs BYU, we expecting to be good on defense even if a little young, and cautiously optimistic about the offense but don't really know what to expect. We've stumbled on offense in recent openers but you know, new HC and OC we're hoping for the best. Not sure what to expect out of BYU this year.

I went to Austin and watched you guys beat the hell out of UT a few years back. Lots of pretty blond girls in your contingent.

It will be interesting to see how much having a warmup game the week before will help the Cougars close the talent gap.
