Our offense is too good. Not enough total punts and always punting from a short field. I would like them to use Net Punting and Opposing Return YDS. He is a big part of our team and we don't need some Guy named Ray to tell us that.

The only stat he's even in the Top-10 in is Long.

You need 3.8 ppg. Wing has less

How about number of punts inside 10?

I'd judge a punter by average, return yards against him and what percent he downed inside the 20/15/10 vs touchbacks.

Admittedly, I am abreast of the national punting scene, but Wing seems like one of the better ones I've ever seen in those three areas.

Don't we have 6 net return yards. He is a WEAPON. I was sitting next to a Bammer at BDS and kept telling him he was our best player. Then he boots one 75 yards. He just looked at me with the face of "no $hit."

Stats do lie. Brad Wing never has the field in front of him to put up high yards per punt, total yards, etc. If he did, he's be up there with the number collectors.

Look at placement, yards per return, etc., and Brad Wing blows those punters out of the water.

Remember, high total yardage and average yardage stats indicate that your defense gives up large amounts of field position and your offense can't move the ball meaning you punt often into a long field.

I am a big La Tech homer, but espn tracks the worst punting stats I have ever seen. Punters look at Net average, and punts inside the 20.
I am too lazy, but I would track punting like this. Net punting average, plus Every punt lands inside the 20 the yardage difference between the 20 and the punt is added back into the the net average. Here is an example.

Punt 1 55 yards lands on the 35 returned for 7 yards = 48 yard net
Punt 2 34 yards lands on the ll no return = 45 (34 yard punt + 9 extra yards for inside the 20.)
Punt 3 = 45 yards lands on 15 returned to 21 = 39 yards.
Average is 134 or 44.6
Old net average is 123 total yards or 40.3 yard net average
New net average is 132 total yards or 44 yard a punt.
This shows more accurately the value of a punter, and does not statistically devalue a pooch punt.
If I wasn't lazy or knew somewhere I could quickly find the information. I would run this stat to see what Wing's average was compared to the other punters. If someone gives me a link to punt by punt breakdown for Wing and Allen I will break it down to give you a look to how it would work in the real world.

NCAA.com Net Punt Avg

Weak argument...he is #25 in avg having played in only 9 games. I'm pretty sure he is top ten in coffin nails and TDs called back for excessive celebration.

It's a shame, but do we honestly care about individual post season awards at this point? I doubt Wing's confidence on the field or with the ladies is shaken because he doesn't have "Ray Guy Finalist" on his resume after one year.
