Bunt would have been the smart play there. Surprised it wasn't called.

3rd and 1st
Laird is quick... I'd tried the steal.

I was thinking the same thing. Bregman has some speed and may have been able to beat it out. Worst case is runner on 1 and 2 with 1 out

with how bregs has been swinging, squeezing mcmullin home while moving laird to 2nd could have been a good move

but breg can tie a game with one swing, so iffy

the steal would have been the best play..we haven't tested this catcher yet.

Down three?

You need three runs, not two

I know people are sensitive about the double play around here. But you can't let a guy at first force that every single time. UCLA doesn't have hitters. They are an exception. We are built differently.

Anyone seriously suggesting bunting Bergman there is insane.

Not with his hamstring. You saw him running?

Runner on first and third with NO outs should be a bunt. Everyone has speed and the threat of the score from third would have kept the defense honest preventing a double play. Worst case, two runners in scoring position with one out.

you are chasing 3 runs with your #3 hitter up, normally you would let him swing away but with only 9 outs left and how anemic our offense has been these past 2 games bunting would have been the better option.

A successful bunt would also give Bregs some very desperately needed confidence

Worst case is a popup, or a hard one to the pitcher.

Down 3 with your second best hitter? A bunt there would have been the dumbest thing I have seen in baseball in awhile.
