I read that Scarbrough is reporting that Bridge will walk on to play TE on the football team. Anyone else hearing anything?

Pretty sure what he's saying is if you are on scholarship it has to count towards the football team. Meaning he can be a scholarship TE who walks onto the basketball team but not the other way around.

Hope its true, his size and footwork has been wasted on the basketball court. This kid could have been one hell of an Offensive Tackle if he took to coaching well.

How much eligibility does he have left after this basketball season, maybe one fall at most?

With his big arse, long arse arms, and height, he will likely succeed at just about any position they put him at, TE, DL, OL.

Pretty sure he has another 4 years of eligibility right since he hasn't been on the football team at all? Even if he just gets 1 year, he can make a name for himself. He's gonna need to cut some bad weight if he wants to play TE though.

Negative. Once you start school, I'm pretty sure you have 5 remaining years of eligibility left including a redshirt

Bridgewater's basketball career (at LSU) is ending in March.

5 to play 4 so he could play football for one season.

Correct, Mitchell counted against the Football scholarship, and if Bridgewater were to play football he would also count against the football scholarship.

If you are on scholarship and play football the scholarship counts against the football limit not the other sport.

Your eligibility clocks starts the moment you attend your first class, you have 5 years to play 4.

That would certainly possible. He was heavily recruited in HS for football until he declared he was going basketball only.

I have never heard that before simply because I have never heard of it being done before (basketball to FB).

I do remember back in the epic Charley Hannegrif Bama meltdown monologue he did reference that the NCAA did have to create a Bama - Bear Bryant clause rule that you could not put athletes on swimming scholarships and have them play football to get around football scholarship limits. However with Basketball being one of the three major NCAA sports I don't know if that is included in the football crossover ban.
