Source confirmed what others have already posted. Brennan will definitely not be red-shirted, he's too good to sit out a season, looks better than LSU's no.1. starter, Etling. I had to know if what was being posted on the rant was true, so I asked. It is!

None, but Etling is supposedly healthy. Although Harris also played a season injured and recovery didn't help much.
I have longed for better qb play regardless of age and coaching. I hope the best plays, even if true freshman.

Actually you can, if this is the guy that's impressing the coaching staff, and is likely LSU's starter in 2018, then you will want to provide him live snaps in a game this year. Choosing not to red-shirt him suddenly makes a great deal of sense.

If he plays at all, it'll be in mop up duty IMO. But even that is a stretch, to me, at this stage.
I know the kid is good but he still has some weight to put on.

The redshirt for him won't be decided until the end of the year in regards to whether he plays or not.

I don't know what Brennan has done in the summer or is doing in practice.
But the idea that freshmen QBs don't start and thrive (even in the mighty SEC) is just outdated bullshite.

Shea Patterson is also not mentioned in the article above. And it's possible (possible, I say) that some of those teams (Alabama, Georgia etc) had tougher incumbent competition that Etling.
