Marwin Gonzales starting at 3rd as well as hitting in the two spot.

Good he needs a reset to get his mind focused and stop pressing. He will be fine once that happens.

Well at 1-32 I think for a guy just called up for a team in playoff competition, I cannot blame them. This doesn't mean by any stretch that the Astro's have given up on him. In fact on any team after a hitting performance that is similar, even solid players with a MLB track record are often pulled for a day or two or longer.

Smart move by the Astros. Need to take some pressure off of him.

Wade Boggs rarely hit pop-ups... I remember commentators marveling about this back in the 80s.

Maybe so, but the left fielder stumbled around and nearly misplayed it for a sec. Secondly, here are the total hits the entire staff over that time period.
6,6,8,7, 5,7,5,7, 5 just over 6 HITS/ game as a team where most were by Jose
and Carlos. The 2 of them and springer are the only ones hitting. Knowing that AJ slid Bregs into the 2 hole in a hope that he would see pitches. He didn't do well, but the opposing pitchers have been very good. Look at who they player - Toronto has the best pitching in MLB. Detroit slammed Boston in the previous series and Verlander pitched.

You have to give it to the other team sometimes.

I was at the game tonight. Only 5 hits and Altuve and Correa left runners at 2nd & 3rd in 8th. Nobody is hitting... post game call in show was in meltdown mode. Great entertainment on my drive back to Sugar Land

knuckleball from Dickey: Struck out swinging.

After watching knuckleball on Netflix it still blows my mind that major league hitters struggle with knuckleball pitchers so much.

Movement isn't predictable. Doesn't matter how slow the pitch is if you can't figure out the location of the ball relative to your bat.

True, but you can barely compare the NL to AL. Toronto leads AL. My bad. Look at Estrada from last night. He allows 5.8 hits per 9 innings with a .99 WHIP. The hits/9 Innings leads all SP including Kershaw. pitching + defense = championships. It always starts with pitching. That's the only reason the Stros are even still in contention.

I wouldn't be surprised if it lasted a couple of days. Honestly, it's just a matter of how long can opposing pitchers keep the cork on before Bregman explodes.

He needed a day off
It's not just Bregman not hitting, several others aren't either.

Hmm. Think I would have given him at least one more day off. We'll see what happens.
