Why in the hell would they ask a player that about his coach? And why in the hell would he answer it?

Normally a player would say we keep working and we will get some wins. But that answer. Seems like they have given up.

Jenkins shouldn't have gone there, but I can't blame him a bit. Jones impact on this program will be felt well past his dismissal, the athletic department needs to really consider that.

Please look an the entire athletic department. Baseball is preseason ranked number 2. Gymnastics is ranked number 1. Softball has been to back to back college world series.

Niki Fargas (SP) has had her fair share of criticisms, but has her team playing hard and with effort and are 13-3 right now.

Football, football has had its ups and downs, but I think Alleva did a good job with where we are at after this season.

Im not an Alleva apologist, but jesus christ get off the guys nuts because one coach has failed at his job of motivating his players.

The O hire was weak. I'm pulling like hell for the guy to succeed but O wasn't sniffing a top 50 job and he got a top 10 job at LSU.

Alleva has horribly missed on the last two basketball hires. 3rd times a charm?

You don't think we're reading too much into this comment? Maybe he's just trying to protect his coach. I'm not sure I'd know how to respond to that question if I were in his shoes.

Does LSU not have someone present during these interviews to prevent something like this from happening?

Serious question. Why would any of the players have confidence in Jones? Just watch him on the sideline during the game. It's as if he's just some fan wandering aimlessly back and forth rather than the leader of the team.

LSU has a spurt of good play --- listless dumb stare
LSU looks terrible and the opponent goes on a run --- listless dumb stare

I don't think I've ever seen a HC with less emotion than Jones. If the coach isn't showing any emotion, why should anyone expect the players to do so?

If the team is playing well...show some fire. Get excited. Encourage them to keep driving. Conversely, if they are playing poorly with no energy, get angry. Show your team that kind of play is not acceptable. The only time Jones ever looks like he gives a shite is when LSU plays Kentucky. Surprise of all surprises, they also generally seem to play over their heads against UK. Coincidence?

No one is saying he has to act like a maniac a la Frank Martin (who has turned USC around), but at least give the impression to your team that you are on the sidelines fighting along with them.

They do. That's why the morning host guys were amazed this made it out of the locker room. They usually get reporters to delete anything like this.

Eta: And the audio told the whole story of what he was thinking when he said it.

After he said he didnt know. He could have any number of things.

"Thats a dumb question"
"Of course we have faith in him"

Instead he went with "I dont know"

I hate Johnny Jones and all his coaching (or lack of). He needs to go now. However, that really is a clown question

The new Coach should definitely be "Frank Martin Like" in order to get the team and fan base riled up and excited.

Everybody is just waiting for the ax to fall now. It's embarrassing for the University. I wonder how long Alleva is going to let this continue..........

Basically he confirmed what everyone found out by watching the last few games. The desire is gone and the team is just going through the motions.

I'm not going to comment much outside of this...

There are a number of players on the team that did not like the way Victor was dismissed from the team. There was no grade trouble. In October he was honored with being "Student Athlete of the Month." There was no issues from him getting in trouble with the law and getting arrested. Don't you find it strange that there was no information released to why Victor was dismissed? What you are seeing now is the players rebelling against a coach who they've lost respect for. It will only get worse from here on out. Alleva has no choice but to get rid of Jones now.

Interesting.

I just assumed it was drug test/grades like most of those things.
