I posted this in the tweet thread, but I think this needs to be somewhere else.

It's startling how perfectly everything is set up for Brandon Harris.

He has a team full of seasoned (no longer young) weapons. A running game that is likely to be elite (certainly enough to take the pressure off of him.) An incumbent who poses no real threat to him athletically. And, a defense that is national championship calibre.

Most importantly, he's sitting on a situation where the first QB who consistently plays well is going to be viewed as a savior...and get tons of attention on the national stage. He doesn't need to be superman...and oh by the way, he's gifted with tons of natural talent.

The problem is that to take advantage of the situation, he is probably facing hundreds of hours of film study during the offseason. If you go back to Mettenberger's last offseason, he spent tons of time studying film. IMO, it was the main factor in his significant improvement from 2012 to 2013.

There are some things that can't be rushed. Growing up is one of those things. I'm not sure Harris is ready to make the commitment it takes to be great. Hopefully, the light goes off in his head and he recognizes the opportunity.

Where do people get the talking point that Harris is lazy and does not work hard? Is this from Miles' comments?

He had all this already and wasn't willing to put in the work. Why is he going to do it now? He can go to another school and start regardless of if he's willing to put in the film study or not.

Sums it up pretty well.

Been told he is a legend in his own mind.

Awful display of accuracy in pregame yesterday.

He's a darkhorse at best. If only Patterson could get early entry. Lol

The problem is AJ will work just as hard and Miles will say he has done nothing to lose the job. Miles is the problem here. Was Lee kept out of the SEC championship and NC game because he wasn't working harder than Jefferson? Was it because Lee was immature? I don't know if Harris would do better. I don't know that Lee would have changed a thing in the NC. I do know that Miles refused to change his mind despite all time abysmal performances from his QB. Harris is said to be a hard worker. AJ is said to be the hardest worker ever to put on a Tiger uniform. It doesn't translate. At all. Miles has to try something different if he wants better results.

It takes a ton of work to play QB in an NFL type passing system that LSU has.

You are thinking in absolutes when you say Harris must be lazy. That's totally missing the point. He has to absolutely work his arse off to speed up the development process as much as possible.

As bad as Jennings was this year, he had an entire year advantage over Brandon Harris. You'd have to be an idiot to not realize that was a huge factor in seeing Jennings more than Harris.

Myths perpetuated by blind Miles supporters. From people that have know him his entire life, he is hard working, bright, and confident in his abilities. When he shite the bed against Auburn, he took responsibility and said he played like shite and needed to get better.

We see this every week from Jennings in the actual game. Every pregame I have witnessed, 7 games, Harris has thrown the better ball.

Would hear that he needs to work harder to see the field.

I'm not saying he will. In fact, I expressed my uncertainty. But, the reason he might is simply maturity. Most kids mature somewhere between their first and 3rd year in college. For me, it was my 2nd semester. Others take longer.

He can't go somewhere and start this year (assuming he doesn't drop down to a lower division). And, he won't be going to a place that has the same upside as what he's sitting on right now.

The only thing stopping Brandon Harris is Brandon Harris. Hell, there isn't even a hot shot recruit coming in that is a threat. The world is literally sitting there on a silver platter for him.

If you believe that, then none of this is worth discussing.

Personally, I think Miles is a rational actor who will play the player who he thinks is the best.

If the option is a seasoned Jennings vs. an immature, unprepared albeit talented Harris, then Miles may in fact choose Jennings.

My point is that Harris can eliminate that advantage if he puts in the study during the offseason. If he relies only on the spring practices and fall camp to develop, he's staying on the normal learning curve.
