What was the difference, was it just rest / deeper in many obvious spots? How did we completely shut down the Heisman trophy winner and do enough on offense (without Canada) to blow Louisville out yet completely wet the bed against Moo?

So you couldn't come up with any other answer other than to quote my hypothetical so to you it wasn't coaching.

I don't know the answer either but apparently it's not as simple as "fire everyone".

Quiet thread, amongst people just waiting to pounce. But they've got nothing bc they can't blame coaches.

We might've just been the inferior opponent and gotten our arse kicked on a night where everything went wrong.

State is a much much more physical team than Louisville.

If we are THAT inferior to MOO STATE, we have much bigger problem than coaching. If THAT is true, LSU is done. It's over. There is no coming back.

Riley
White
Adams
Godchaux
Neal
Bower
Game ready Key

Dupre
Oline
Delahoussaye

Pretty much different LSU team. So plenty of difference.

Having 1st, 3rd and 5th round draft picks on defense helped.

Do you watch lines of scrimmage? We were manhandled. Mauled, raped, destroyed, humiliated, dominated. You pick. When you can't play sound physical football you get killed.

I realistically expected a heck of a tough game. In no universe should what happened happen. We didn't turn it over and
got beat by MSU by 30!

Our kicking game is awful, our offense looks like it was designed for Friday nights, our D is not physical

That defense not only had been playing together all season, but was more talented as well.

You still don't lose to State by 30 and score 7 points.

Louisville's OL is awful, and IMO Petrino didn't have a great gameplan.

State had a great plan and executed it well. Attacked us on the perimeter and they nailed their blocks to spring big gainers.

Also, vast difference in the quality of DL we fielded last year vs. Saturday night. That was a spring game caliber 2-deep by the end of game. It'd be wrong to even call it a 2-deep, really.

A lot of good points made by multiple people about the line of scrimmage and yes that's exactly what happened, but how do we correct it?

I'm neutral as far as O is concerned. I just don't get all of the clean coaches out commentary after one game given the changes in personnel. I get it, it's an oversimplification, we shouldn't have lost to MSU by 30, but we did.

State was a better team and more physical than Louisville last year despite the record...so if Louisville was better-why didn't they score 20 points on the Tigers like MSU did?

Correct, a Les Miles led team may have looked worse, if possible, and I don;t think another coach would've made it look any better.
