Purchased a travel trailer this year and was curious what your experiences have been in the RV lot for bowl games. Good crowd or lame? Also any experience with Camping world stadium. Is this a decent place to tailgate overnight or should I make alternate plans that don't include the trailer?
TIA

Weather was bad there last time but didn't seem that great. Bars were fun though

It's not as bad as people are saying. Certainly not any more "unsafe" than the French Quarter. The area has changed a lot since the last time LSU was here. Downside is that it is isolated from bars and other entertainment, although you can walk to it from Downtown/Church Street Station. Local Alumni are planning a tailgate party that morning.
Check out my post and the Facebook page for updates and times.

I generally don't find that bowl games (or any other away game) lend themselves to anywhere near the level of tailgating that we are used to around tiger stadium. I would personally just skip the idea of tailgating on my own...by the time you deal with hotel, travel, and check in with the alumni association tailgate, it will be time to head to the game anyway.

Thanks for the info. We are planning on taking our kids to the game and was hoping it was a relatively fun experience to tailgate with our RV. We don't get to take the kids to games in tiger stadium during the fall very often because of all of their weekend sports activities etc. I was hopeful we could recreate a decent tailgate experience since we have the time over the holidays. Sounds like we may just head to the stadium in the morning in the car and leave the trailer at a campground.

I think that would be your best bet. if you want to do it up, I would just put up some stuff and tailgate at the campground for the kiddos....they will have a ball.

That weekend is about family time, not tailgating.

Isn't tailgating with the kids having family time?

I always had my kids with me at our RV tailgate . Just don't invite animals or as them to leave if their drinking get out of hand. Nip it in the bud.

Exactly my point. People party in the Quarter all the time and are FREAKED out to come to the Citrus Bowl. No, it's not Isleworth, but it's really not that bad. All the negativity comes from us losing the last two games in there.

Another poster has listed problems with tailgating in that particular situation. And that is what the kids will remember.

If the OP insists on tailgating then the day is about tailgating, not family time.

He can tailgate in his back yard. Why travel to Florida and not do Florida things?

I don't remember tailgating being in any travel brochures for Florida.
