bowl eligibility
Posted by TheAntiGump on 11/13/08 at 8:44 am00
does bowl eligibility require you just have 6 wins - or does it require you have 6 wins against IA opponents?
and...
how do we keep the PapaJohns.com Bowl from ever having an SEC tie in again?

6 wins minimum, no matter who the opponents are. however, if you only have six wins at seasons end you may not get invited to a bowl if you did, in fact, play only very weak schools.

Don't worry...we're in even at 6-6 (see Bama from last year). Maybe not anything close to Cotton Bowl but some type of bowl..

You are allowed to have one FCS win count towards six wins.

it is the only way to be able to potentially get invited to a bowl.

Good article on the plight of 'minor bowls' in general. They are even kicking around the idea of inviting teams with 5 wins.

acmilanlsu has it right
you have to have at least a .500 record but only one win against a 1-AA opponent counts.
For example, GT played two 1-AA opponents so we had to have 7 wins to become bowl eligible (I guess we could have done it with six if we had lost to one of them)

GMAC bowl, or New Orleans bowl against a MAC team
