wow ... just made a grown arse man cry. That was an awesome piece. Never really knew his track record. He was a genius. Could have been one of the most legendary coaches of all time. RIP Coach Rein...

The morning after his plane crashed, the principal of the junior high I was attending called me out of class to let me know what had happened.

we can only imagine what could have been if the crash would have never happened. The history of lsu could be very different. Such a great piece to watch

I didn't watch the segment, so I don't know if they mentioned Jerry Stovall.
But he takes way to much heat for doing his best to stop-gap a tragic situation with Bo Rein's passing.

He was interviewed on the show. Culotta and the Prince had him on the week this show premiered and he went into much more detail about what happened.

This explains why Lou Holtz hates LSU.

If they had managed to stay below safe oxygen levels.......
Possibly no Stovall, Arns, Arch, Hall, Dinar, Satan...
Would have changed the entire CFB landscape.

No, not the "entire" landscape. It would have changed LSU's.

What he means is, spread-type offenses could have proliferated a decade early. And yes, that is plausible.

Rein's 42 days have a Camelot-JFK "one brief shining moment" feel, mainly because he was so young.
Only 34--yes, he could have been fired after four seasons, but then, he could have coached at LSU for 30 years.
Or ... He could have won a national championship then bolted for the NFL with a Christmas Eve press conference.
Then, right around the time Bear Bryant retired, he could have gotten the urge to return to the college ranks and gone to ... Alabama. Lol
BTW, does anyone know exactly who Bo had flown to Shreveport to recruit on that ill-fated flight?

Rein and Williams started their 15-hour day leaving Baton Rouge at 6:30 a.m. The only time they stopped moving was to eat. Their last stop was to visit Bobby Agnor, a recruit from Woodlawn who was already in the Tigers' fold.

I had only heard of him as I was 6 when it happened. Was very successful where ever he went.

the best part of the whole segment was when the wife and daughter came back to Tiger Stadium for a game in 2014 and they were announced and recognized on the field .... they stated that they really didn't think people would even remember him - However Tiger Stadium erupted for them with cheers and a standing ovation and the whole student section was bowing !!! WOW - shite was legit.... :dude:
