STARKVILLE, Miss. – Bill Martin, a communications veteran within Southeastern Conference football, has been named Mississippi State's assistant athletic director for media relations, according to an announcement by the athletic department Thursday.

Martin comes to Mississippi State from LSU, where he most recently served as an associate sports information director. He began his career with the Tiger athletic department in August of 2001 as a student intern within the sports information office.

“We could not be more excited to have Bill join our staff,” senior associate athletic director Scott Wetherbee said. “His passion for collegiate athletics will be appreciated and respected by our entire department. His experience working with national media members will continue to further our efforts telling the story of Mississippi State.”

I'm not familiar with the media industry. Both of those job titles sound good. How much of a pay increase would you assume?

Yeah assistant AD and Director of media relations. That's a big jump from associate SID, even if it's at MSU.

GREAT guy, great for him, always thought he did great work, #2 to MB for football, did great job with WB, sounds like a great opp for him and all the best-hope he comes back some day. Lots of great people and hard work makes LSU Athletics, goes way beyond the players and coaches and Bonnette, Martin, Lowe are among them...

He's done a great job at LSU. He will be missed. Hopefully, LSU can find a quality replacement.
