"Biggest improvement comes between game 1 and 2"

Is this generally true or is it a football cliché?
The season opener is typically filled with: Penalties, poor timing, cramps, nerves and miscommunication. I would expect a more well executed game in game 2, with the degree of improvement up for debate.

I've heard this discussed last week on the radio. The host thought this wasn't true at all. I personally think that this is very true.
The first time I made out with a chick, I probably wasn't very good. But the second time, I was much better. Although, I still probably suck, I doubt I improved as much as I did from the first time to the second.

All I heard last week was how LSU not playing McNeese St was a huge detriment to LSU. I look forward to seeing LSU improve after a big SEC road win.
