Hey guys I posted on here a few months back that Better Than Ezra said they were playing a LSU pre party show the night before the Oregon game at the House of Blues in downtown Dallas.
I just got an email with the presale information and if you follow the link it will have all the information you need. General public goes on sale this Friday.
LINK
Its a great venue and should be a good time. House of Blues has good food but you also have Luna De Noche, Dicks Last Resort, Hard Rock, and El Fenix within walking distance.

Question: If they are "better then ezra" then who is Ezra and why have I never heard of them?

I'll be there.
...clever...

Can't you already see them play at the Varsity like 12 times a month?

I want to see them for the 13th time.
Besides, i'll suppot some hometown folks that play good music at the House of Blues over anything else in Dallas that night.

Klady,
There will be lots to do on a Friday and Saturday in Dallas. They have done a lot with the uptown area. My bro in law was in town from Florida two weeks ago and he was amazed how much it had changed and how hoping all the bars and pubs were on a Friday in uptown. It will be lot of LSU and Oregon fans all around town and lots to do. DFW is huge, one of the downsides is that its very spread out so its not like NOLA where everything is in one central area. If you're looking for a good party you will be in luck

Thats good to hear. I wasnt insinuating that there wasnt anything to in Dallas, i just meant that i only have one night to really party (maybe 2). So i will go with a sure fire LSU dominated event.

This.
I can see Ezra a few times a year including every Mardi Gras. I love the guys, but I plan on doing something different in another state. For all the fans who don't live in S La, great, please go and support them.

I'm torn between BTE at the HOB, or Travis Matte and Bag of Donuts at the lizard lounge. I know we would have a good time at both, and both will be heavily populated with LSU fans, just don't know which one to get drunk at yet.
I know Kid Rock is also in town that night too, but that doesn't interest me.

How far is it from the omni mandalay to the HOB? Think it'll be easy to get a cab service to/from there?

First off Mandalay is a badass hotel. Lots of good stuff around it too. I recommend the Ranch Steakhouse. www.ranchsteakhouse.com, good food and great drinks and bar
Secondly, I would say 15-20 minutes with no traffic. Its really a straight shot. You are staying off HWY 114, just take that east and it will merge onto 35 south, you will stay on that all the way to downtown. Google maps has it at 10.1 miles so it wont be bad at all. Its a straight shot

Thanks! I probably will pull in some Ezra tickets on Friday. What level do you recommend at the HOB? Balcony, floor, ect.?

From a thread a couple of years ago...the DJ was my little bro...

quote: My little bro was a KLSU DJ in the late 80's/90's--Brother John. frick....I actually think I remember listening to him.... I don't doubt it--he was there for a while. He was at LSU from 1980-1994. He did leave with his B.S., M.S.,and Ph.D., but his professors practically booted him out, telling him to finish his thesis or else. He loved sleeping late, DJ'ing, and doing research, and started the music zine "It's the Music, Stupid". He also got the origin of Better Than Ezra's name in an early interview...anyone interested?
quote:
National Lampoon magazine had a list of fictional "top 1O alt-rock band names". Two of them were "Better Than Elvis" and "The Ezra Pounders" (for you lit majors-- combined? "Better Than Ezra" This is the story--don't believe the others...
