1986 - Purdue 2 OTs, Memphis St. Wilson last second shot and UK upset
2000 - Texas and Stro's block of Chris Mihm
2006 - Texas A&M shot by Mitchell, Duke upset and Texas OT

Any more that I'm missing to re-live before it all gets started tomorrow. Feels great to be back in the Dance.

Cannot forget 1981 vs Wichita State in the Superdome.

40,000 roaring fans. Huge traffic jam on the way home as Tiger bus made its way back to BR.

Tigers stormed to their first Final Four under Dale Brown completing the fantastic climb to the top.

Well, almost the top.

My family met the team back on campus when they got back. I was very young, but Leonard Mitchell picked me up and put me on his shoulders. I don't really remember it, but my mom has told that story several times over the years.

THIS---plus GA Tech squeezed in there. I believe it was a Thursday game (Kirby Smith sponsored keg party on Thursdays back in the day) and I remember finally waking up to the screaming and hollering of my roommate and suite-mates. I watched the final minutes still sprawled across my bed only able to open one eye.

This team had no business going that far--was at the Purdue game. Was an incredible atmosphere.

Lest we forget Beshara's 3-pointer with 17 seconds to go to beat SW Missouri State in the 1st round that year.

Great great times.

I'm a Duke fan second in basketball, so this game I was torn (had Duke winning the entire tournament in my bracket). Whenever it comes down to it I can not pull for anyone over LSU, but it was sort of bitter sweet. JJ Redick is one of my all time favorite basketball players. To watch him torch people all season long and then to see Collis Temple shut him down was still fun to watch. Played against Collis and Big Baby in high school (Collis was not that great), so I always really rooted for them.

Does anyone know were I can watch the 2006 games against Iona and aTm along with the 2000 SE Missouri St and Texas games?

It's been hard as hell tracking those games down.

on't forget the great run of 1987 over Georgia Tech, Depaul, and Temple. John Chaney said the only freaks he knew were found in the alleys. Dale gave signal for the freak defense and down went Temple.

If you played against big baby in high school then you played against Garrett.

You left out the upset of 2nd seed Georgia Tech which was huge as well.

The '86 LSU team still holds the record for defeating the most highly seeded teams to reach the final four. 6th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st. Phenomenal feat.

Y'all are right, the Ga Tech upset in 1986 has to be up there as well. To beat them with John Salley and Mark Price a few miles from their campus was quite a feat.

Yes. LSU over Kentucky 59-57 in the 1986 SE Regional Final. One of the greatest wins in LSU history---regardless of sport.

Haven't read all post but does anyone remember in the 1986 games where someone apparently thru a coin at Gene Keady (Purdue coach) and he held it up in jest to the crowd and then put it in his pocket? And how about the Memphis State dance team, which were the best in the land at the time. That was awesome. I also seem to recall we Actually led Louisville by 10 points at the half of the semi final game in the final 4. Man, the magic ran out just a bit short. Seems like anytime LSU got past the first round, the team they lost to went on to win it all.

Not to be that guy, but it was actually SEMO, Southeastern Missouri State. But, yes, often overlooked.

Texas in the elite 8. Lived in Austin at the time and the fans annoyed the crap out of me. Went out on 6th street that night rockin the LSU polo. It was sweet.
