I assume this also means he is near top in Fouls Drawn, but I could not find a leader list on that.

Some people want him to take over games and put up gaudy point totals. But this really speaks to how much attention he is drawing from opposing defenses and the positive effect it has on our team. And it isn't something people necessarily look at in the box score sizing up his contribution.

Which is very good considering he was around 55% in high school. Goes to show the kid works hard

Unfortunately fouls drawn is not an official stat.

Kenpom does try and estimate fouls drawn and that has Ben Simmons 24th in fouls drawn per 40min, however his foul drawn rate has drastically increased in SEC play and would be good enough for 5th in the country.

But like I said those are estimates because it's not an official stat.

Here is his assumptions for creating his estimates:

quote:

1) Each shooting foul results in an average of 1.8 free throws. 2) 16.3% of all fouls are committed by the offense. (The first two assumptions are derived from D-I averages.) 3) No offensive fouls results in shots (this is not entirely true since some offensive fouls occur in rebounding situations). 4) Players on defense draw fouls at equal rates. 5) Players on offense draw non-shooting fouls proportional to their percentage of possessions used. Apply all of these assumptions using a team’s total fouls drawn, and you end up with what I think is a decent estimate of individual fouls drawn.

I think it speaks more to the fact that he is becoming more aggressive and driving more to the basket because he realizes that he is either going to get the layup or get fouled

I thought earlier in the season he was being a bit more timid

Good to know.

I definitely believe this. They've been all over him lately.

As tight as they were calling the game at times last night, I still think Ben got hacked a lot driving to the basket and they didn't call it.

If anyone has this stat, it would just be an individual team or would be an estimate. It is not included on official box scores and seeing that not every game is televised or video isn't available, it would be impossible to keep.
