He has all the potential in the world, but I don't know mentally is this kid has what it takes. He should be able to carry this team to the tourney. Period. If he can't light this team on fire and then goes to NBA, Im starting to think this kid might be a bust in the pros.

Lol plz stop. You're embarrassing yourself.

I will probably agree but I see him make some terrible decisions...his 2nd foul last night for example.

His second foul was him being aggressive, which you have been clamoring for all thread. Plus it should have been called on the defense instead of a charge.

But ignoring all the other stats is just people being stubborn because of how cynical they are regarding our season.

The season has been a major disappointment. I don't think any LSU fan thought we would be a bubble team...I would love to go back and see all the final 4 predictions but I don't care enough to do so

I will be the first to say I expected more from this team as a whole. But they still are in a very good spot to get a decent seed in the tourney.

But what Ben has done is insane.

can't really compare this when you are talking about a guy who shoots from 20+ ft and a guy who shoots 95% of his shots within 5ft of the basket

how can anyone downvote this? Buddy shoots long range bombs. Ben doesn't shoot outside 8 feet. These are facts.

My god, people, stop with the sickening blind homerism.

Stats aside, being the best player in the country is about who do you want with the ball in their hands when you're down by 1 on the last possession.

I don't want it in Simmons hands and hes made it clear he doesn't want it. He can put up all the stats he wants in the first 15 minutes of the game and in blowouts. But everytime its a close game on the line, he is nowhere to be found.

He has the talent, sure. He has the "stats", sure. But where is it when the games on the line?

If I'm picking who I want to have their hands on the ball in clutch situation, Simmons isnt at the top of the list at the moment, and that's why this team is struggling to even make the tournament.

you really want to compare that talent on UK to this team?

kind of makes you wonder what his stats would have been had he not been surrounded by tons of talent. I imagine much better.

I'm not sure that guy was fully set. Plus if I remember correctly the other defender was kind of riding him which based on the way the game last night was called, could have been a fouled.

On this team? I want in it his hands, hell yes.

If I had to pick anyone in the NCAA, I'd say Niang or Hield because I know they'll make a play with it. Which is what the thread about, is he the best player in the NCAA currently, the answer is NO.

Hield PER: 31.51

Simmons PER: 31.41

I swear some of you think scoring is the only way to impact a game. HIELD HAS MORE TURNOVERS THAN ASSISTS.

Hield is elite. Single-handedly beat LSU. Should win POY based on his play COMBINED WITH his team's success.

Simmons is a much more complete player.

Hield is a 22 year old 4th year senior who's played in 118 career games at OU.

Ben is an 18 year old freshman who's played 24 career games.

He is the best all around player. He is not the best scorer.

I would want the ball in the best scorers hands at the end of the game obviously.

It was not clearly a charge. The defender slid underneath him

If that is a charge, then the block called on Hornsby was easily a charge

Show menall the stats you want, the eyeball test says he isn't the best player in the NCAA. If his cocky arse wants to back that up, he needs to play like it.

I'm fully aware you don't have to score to affect the game. The best players don't miss free throws with the game on the line. The best players don't turn the ball over with the game on the line. The best players want their hands on the ball with the game on the line. Simmons is none of that. He's a stats queen who has shied away from a lot big moments this year.

You must not have watched an LSU basketball all season. You certainly no nothing about Ben as a person. He is as humble as can be and a true class act.

Iev watched him, and admired how humble he is.

But "I don't think anyone is better than me" is cocky, especially when you can't back it up.
