The Texas and TaxSlayer bowls are part of the SEC’s “Pool of Six” games.

After SEC teams are slotted in the CFP and the Citrus Bowl makes its choice, the SEC will decide which teams go to the Texas, TaxSlayer, Liberty, Outback, Music City and Belk bowls. Bowls and schools may state their preferences, but the conference office has the final say.

The bowl games aren't stupid, they know the fan base isn't excited about anything that isn't Sugar or Playoffs, so they'll stick us in Houston to try and ensure the most amount of fans show up. It's all about the tickets sold, not about which team is "better" than the others

Every year, people come on here and post about how if we don't buy the shitty bowl game tickets we'll get slotted in shitty bowls.

Yet, for the last decade, LSU has been fricked by the bowl process more times than not despite buying all those Chick-fil-A tickets or whatever.

Texas has been our best recruiting area the last few years.

Honestly, who gives a shite what second or third tier bowl we play in?

I do. I'd much rather watch LSU play Michigan in Orlando than Texas Tech in Houston or Northwestern in Jacksonville. Baylor in Houston would be fun, I will admit.

LSU's season deserves a Texas Tech or Northwestern/Penn State match up.

Had we played the McNeese game, we would be 9-3 with wins over East champ Florida, CUSA champ Western Kentucky, and rivals A&M, Auburn, and State. LSU brings a ton of eyeballs and ticket buyers wherever they go. Whether we're a joke or a powerhouse, people all over the country tune in to watch us play because they want to see what kind of wacky antics that Mad Hatter will come up with next. We're an entertainment brand.

LSU deserves an upper-mid tier bowl against an upper-mid tier opponent. Are 9-3 Michigan and 9-3 Baylor really that much better than LSU that we don't even deserve to share the same field as them? At 8-3, are really only in the same tier as 7-5 West Virginia or Texas Tech?

Well Tech did beat Arkansas on the road while we got skull fricked at home. So that would actually be a good match up. And our merit resting on the wacky antics of our buffoon coach is sad.

Our bowls are also getting lower tiered each season.

Good point, but our wacky buffoon coach still only lost 3 games. Tech's amazing staff lost 5. That's right, 2 more than our buffoon.

This year our bowl is based in large part on our presale of bowl tickets which I heard was the worst it has been in 15 years. The SEC wants to place teams according to ticket sales projections.

For much of the country LSU fans are a source of amusement. They laugh at the accent, the food and the antics in general. To a lot of people Louisiana in it self is a strange side show. The dysfunctional fan base is just a part of it.

Why gripe at the bowl game selection. It was made clear recently that this kind of production is fine for majority of our fans and the university's administration. Les is a great guy and we should be happy that we even get to play in a bowl.

I'd rather they played in the Independence Bowl. I could go home to Shreveport and enjoy some home cooking. These bowls don't matter anyway. Independence Stadium would be sold out.

I don't get it why more people don't understand this.
