I watched Joey Belle play at LSU and at Camden Yards for Baltimore. No comparison. AB will be better.

This whole debate is pretty retarded, but to compare the power numbers of a guy who played in the era where players ate steroids for breakfast, had barrels on their bats that acted like a trampoline, used a -5 bat to a guy who plays the game today is even worse.

And Lennon was a better person than you

quote:

In May 1968, while his wife was on holiday in Greece, Lennon invited Ono to visit. They spent the night recording what would become the Two Virgins album, after which, he said, they "made love at dawn."[166] When Lennon's wife returned home she found Ono wearing her bathrobe and drinking tea with Lennon who simply said, "Oh, hi."

Well, I guess he truly loved Yoko, right?

quote:

Pang, 22, astounded by Ono's proposition, eventually agreed to become Lennon's companion. The pair soon moved to California, beginning an 18-month period he later called his "lost weekend".

Well, at least his young assistant/mistress encouraged him to reconnect with his son that he wanted nothing to do with.

quote:

"Sean was a planned child, and therein lies the difference. I don't love Julian any less as a child. He's still my son, whether he came from a bottle of whiskey or because they didn't have pills in those days. He's here, he belongs to me, and he always will."

I'm sure that makes Julian feel swell knowing that his dad doesn't want him. I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding, I know John Lennon loved both children just as much...

quote:

after Lennon and Ono's 1971 move to New York, Julian would not see his father again until 1973

Wait, Lennon didn't see his 8 year old son for two years? Well no wonder the following happened...

quote:

Lennon was distant from Julian, who felt closer to McCartney than to his father.

So a young boy was closer to his dad's band mates than his dad.

Homeruns are not the only measure of greatness. Belle also struck out 961 times during his career which was about once every five at bats.

I can see Bregs having a .300+ career batting average (Belle = .295), striking out far less and being outstanding in the field. That will make him better than Belle.

Plus as another poster wrote, Bregs won't be on the 'roids like Belle lived on.

I love Alex Bregman and think he is and will be great. However, at this point Im not ready to say Bregman will have a better MLB career than Albert Belle. Belle was an absolute beast.

If Bregman ends up with a .310 career with a few golden gloves, that would be a pretty incredible career, but Im not sure if I'd consider it better than Belle. Belle's power numbers paired with a very impressive .295 is tough to beat. It will be a great next 15-20 years watching Bregman play. He is a great one.

I don't mean just during his LSU years. I'm talking about before he hangs up his spikes, he will be the best baseball player from LSU to ever play in the majors.

We had better enjoy watching that kid play. He is a joy to watch play the game......in the field, at the plate and running the bases.

There, I said it.

And I'm glad I did.

I know people don't like to talk about it because he's a mean "tPOS" as people here put it, but he's gonna have a hard time putting up better numbers than Albert Belle. Belle is easily the greatest LSU tiger of all time when it comes to pro careers.

I mean, it's absolutely unbelievable to me how many boxtards forget about Belle. How can one not say he's the greatest LSU baseball player ever?

The pitcher's were on steroids too. Besides, even without roids, I'm 100% sure Belle could shite more than 6 HRs with the new college bats.

It's also been proven a corked bat does nothing to help and may in fact hurt.

Belle was hitting 20+ home runs in a season before the -4 and -5 bats. He hit balls over the scoreboard in Rosenblatt before they moved the fences in. I don't think Belle was using steroids at LSU in 1986. In fact, had he not been such a nut case, I don't think it's a stretch at all to say that LSU would have won it's first baseball national title in 1987. Instead, Bertman had to kick Belle off of the team late in the year, and we finished 3rd after the 10 inning loss to national champ Stanford.

I am a huge TW fan & he had one of the greatest, clutch hits in LSU history, second to Warren Morris' in my opinion. But if we want to put up a Mount Rushmore of LSU baseball players, Eddie Furness belongs up there. Just check out the team and NCAA records that he still holds. I ignore Belle as he is on record for saying he will never return to LSU & his reputation is more than well deserved. And, sorry, that does matter when I am being asked to name the greatest of any LSU sport.

We're not talking about a HR derby guys. Hitting hr's and having power doesn't make you the GOAT.

Nope, we had already tied the game, and there was less than two outs, as indicated by the drawn in infield. That 9th inning comeback was great, but that single at bat was not the game changer. I'll take Barbier and Witten's home run in the 8th inning of the Stanford final. Witten with a 2 out, 2 strike game tying home run should be 2nd to Morris' walk off as far as clutch at bats go.
