Beckwith at OLB?

With Corey Thompson out, had me thinking about that situation.

Beckwith has experience playing at edge, plus is good at it.

Also, I was thinking of Miles saying DWhite would be playing too. I could see Dwhite, Riley, and Beckwith on the field at the same time in this situation.

Thoughts?

ETA: I only mean in packages. I would not want him at OLB permanently obviously.

They are never gonna move Beckwith from the middle to the F linebacker spot. Prototype inside guy

Agree... Beckwith is a PERFECT MLB. Dude is a force upfront, no need for him to bounce out

He was already used in that position last year with success. I know new coordinator and everything, but this would only be a package thing.

Plus, isn't Aranda's whole spiel "moving players around"?

According to B.Lazare for a stretch of 2-3yrs, Beckwith is a DE and will never be a MLB. May as well move him to the edge now

Beckwith needs to stay in the middle. White will be good but he's not on Beckwith's level yet

He wont move.

I think he can play outside and he was crazy good coming off the edge against Texas Tech.

Also we haven't lost a starter yet so we aren't gonna move a starter.

F linebacker spot

I'm I the only one who didn't know what this was until all the depth charts with Aranda's new scheme starting getting thrown around? It's like everyone keeps using it now like it's the same thing as saying defensive end or cornerback.

You must have missed last season. He wrecked shite coming off the end.

Stop thinking ... Corey Thompson was only going to be on the field at OLB in down and distance situations anyways. Beckwith needs to fill one of the holes in the middle to stop the run.

They will play him there a bunch, but he will primarily play MLB.

My thought is that it's well known that Beckwith can't cover worth a shite, and we're going to put him there to replace a guy who was a coverage specialist at linebacker?

Hello?

We have no depth at inside linebacker. If Beckwith doesn't come back I don't know how we are even top 10.

Exactly. Beckwith will and should stay there. But I love how our depth keeps getting questioned.

We have a FRESHMAN that is 6'1 255 and runs a 4.5. Being guided by a genius DC that will put enough on his shoulders to get the job done. Oh wheres the depth? The 2 guys White passed up on the depth chart...We are going to be great. Brace yourselves.

MLB's in 3-4 routinely have to beat guards 1on 1 & you need size there.
You maybe can get away with 1 MLB being only 230 , but not both. Beck with has the beef to play ILB & already plenty of undersized DE's to rush outside in a 3-4.

3-4 DE's are more or less DT's

Can deny the impact Beckwith had when they kicked him out on the edge against both Texas A&M and Tech. He had 3.5 sacks combined in those two games plus some hurries and a forced fumble against A&M.

He will play some on the outside but primarily inside. You all remember when Miles said D. White will play every game? There is why. D White will be on the field when Beckwith kicks outside

Bro, I'm with you. I still think it's a mistake that we never used Trindon Holiday's speed at DE on special packages.
