I know we are all in the football grind, but I'm ready for some hoops!

I'm onboard with the thought that this team will be better than advertised. There's still some great talent on this squad

Yeah I'm just not ready for basketball. Seems like it just finished last week, anyway.

Last year really is problematic for me because it dampened my enthusiasm and love for LSU hoops more than any in my over 40 of following the sport here.

I've never been more disappointed or frustrated and there have been some bad seasons. But the consistent lack of effort and lack of accountability, that was very disappointing.

Can we just decline to play this season like we did the post season last year?

That would actually be an accomplishment this time.

I don't know where this team is. They don't look good, but if Blakeney has the season we are expecting that goes a long ways towards helping the team.

Wouldn't it be funny if Blakeney led us to the tourney, after last year's disaster

Well the cancer is hopefully gone from this team, but the head coach that couldn't control it is still here.

We're having to assume that our 2 best players have vastly improved with Blakeney & Victor. We'll also have to rely heavily on jc players, and that's not good. Other than a foul prone Victor who no longer has Ben, our low post play will probably be dreadful. Blakeney better miraculously become consistent all of a sudden.

Unless all the rest of the SEC teams have decided to become poorly coached and not have depth, it should be a pretty bad season.

There are definitely some holes in the roster (especially in the frontcourt), but there are also some good pieces on the team. Blakeney is an All-SEC caliber guard. Victor is a skilled PF. I think Sampson is a very good player and he will be MUCH improved from last season. Two big questions though:

1. Who is going to rebound? Victor is ok, but this is the first year Jones hasn't had a true "glass eater" (JOBIII, Mickey, Martin, Simmons). I don't care if Reath only averages 4 ppg. If he can give LSU 8 rpg I'll be thrilled.

2. Will Jones FINALLY give a shite about playing defense? If not, all the uptempo running in the world won't matter.

Wasn't just the post-season. Lack of effort was pretty much a season-long issue.

Is Duop Reath going to be a contributor on the Charles Carmouche level or more like a John Odo?

Johnny said there will be growing pains. I think that means he isn't ready.

We could certainly be a better "team" than last year. Just too many distractions with all the hype last season. How that will transfer into wins depends on the rest of the league. I like JJ but I don't believe he's the future of the program.

all we need him to be is a compliment to Craig Victor off the bench. Victor will play more minutes than anyone, maybe with an exception to AB.

Provided he can cut out the fouling that plagued his season last year.
