Who you got? I think we should hire Godfrey from NC State. He just got fired which was beyond ridiculous from then.

He got fired for underachieving, just what we need
Where do you people come from?
You go hire a young, up and comer.

I'm hoping they are just trolls.
In the last few days we've had the following people listed as "guys we should hire":
Mark Fox - has underachieved at UGA and is a Trent Johnson protege
Mark Gottfried - Just got fired at NC State
Rick Stansbury - A MSU re-tread.
Now admittedly, ALL would be better than Jones. But is that what the goal is? "Better than Jones"? There are HS in Louisiana who can teach the game better than Jones.

Gottfried would be okay, Stansbury an improvement.
What about Tim Jankovich of SMU?
They continue to be ranked high, and the Mustangs are doing it with just six players.

Not very enthused, but he recruits this region extremely well, and someone is needed to reverse course immediately and he has the experience to do that. Not my first choice, but he would probably be the kind of guy Alleva would go after, as we saw with football, young up and coming coaches don't seem to interest Alleva.

I always liked Fox. His teams are hard as shite to beat, but i just don't think he can recruit. He's Trent, but actually a better coach.
IMO go the bright, young rising star mid major route. We know what Stansbury and Gottftied are.

nice record at SMU, but isn't he essentially doing that with Larry Brown's team?
I'd want to give him a few more years to see if he can keep that up on his own.

You keep posting this-either you're a big time troll or you have legit info

Stansbury was definitely underappreciated at State. I don't think there is any question he'd have LSU competitive. But I also don't think there is any question he would walk to BR from Kentucky if offered the job. No reason to make him the top guy (but judging by Alleva's past history, I'm sure he'd hire Stansbury before the first round of the NCAAT even ended)
The trend (somewhat) in the league recently has been to hire guys who had great success at prior stops, but just flamed out for whatever reason: Barnes at Tenn.; Howland at MSU (both guys have Final Fours on their resumes); Pearl at Auburn; you could probably even argue Johnson at Bama fits that mold (though it was in the NBA, not college). Except really for Auburn, all of those programs are improving pretty quickly.
In that vein, I'd reach out to Tom Crean. He hasn't done a poor job of getting IU back to national prominence. But good is not good enough there, and there have been some rumblings about some at IU wanting him out.
Or, LSU could go kind of the South Carolina route when they hired a successful Frank Martin away from K-State. To me, the guy who fits that mold is Buzz Williams at Va Tech. In year 3 he has that graveyard program competing in the ultra competitive ACC and in line for a NCAAT birth. But there has to be a ceiling at VT, right? It's hard to sustain big time success against UNC, Duke, Syracuse, Virginia, Notre Dame, etc. In the SEC it's UK and, any given year, one of the 13 other teams. William's personality would bring immediate excitement to the PMAC (he would be more vocal and animated in game one than Jones has been in 5 years, combined); He's a Texas native whose first HC job was at UNO, so you would think he may have some familiarity with the recruiting landscape

Kevin Keatts
In Keatts' first season at the helm he was named CAA Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Seahawks to their first conference championship in nine (9) years, and first winning season in seven (7) years.
In his second year, Keatts repeated his rookie-year double, once again winning the CAA regular-season championship and Conference Coach of the Year. In winning the 2016 conference coach of the year, he became the first coach in CAA history to ever win the award in consecutive years.

Basketball Coach Candidates
I want LSU to hire the best coach available, but we all know that basketball is not a priority to LSU and Alleva can't make a slam dunk hire to save his life. So I will be happy if we get Kermit Davis from MTSU.

Kevin Keatts
I think he would definitely recruit well, and he has done an outstanding job at UNCW in his first (nearly) 3 years. The two things that would give me just a bit of concern are:
1. His history as a college coach is pretty limited. Doing well at a CAA school doesn't always translate to big results at a SEC school. At least with guys like Williams, Stansbury, even Gottfried, there is a past history of success at power conf. programs.
2. His teams are probably a bit like Jones' in the sense that they play uptempo and struggle with defensive efficiency. The difference for Keatts is that his teams appear to be very efficient on the offensive end (unlike Jones). I'm not saying LSU needs to go with a guy who focuses exclusively on defense and nothing else, but I'd be a bit worried that you are getting a somewhat better Johnny Jones who might be exposed a bit against much better talent and coaching.
I don't think Keatts would be the absolute worst hire in the world, but he would be on my second-tier group.

Currently I don't think SEC Men's Basketball quality is much better than smaller conferences like CAA. Also Keatts' current salary at UNCW is "only" 500K. This is relatively cheap for getting a much better coach (than JJ!) and fits the approach LSU (Alleva & King) has been doing in hiring new coaches. Just my two-cents...

Well first off Alleva, it should be required you know how to spell the name of the guy you want. Secondly, this is the exact type of candidate you need to avoid. This hire would create little buzz and only further the stigma that this school does not give a damn about basketball. Back to the drawing board Joe.

Jones won't be fired.
If he isn't LSU may set a record for lowest attendance in NCAA history.
