I'd venture to say that very single small town in America has at least one baseball field.

Baseball is on the decline because of an aging fan base and because high profile athletes are choosing football and basketball at a higher rate. That goes for black kids and white kids.

If you want to point out continued and systemic racial disparity, look at the NHL.

In other news, American Airlines said that the use of automobiles is dying.

Just because there are fewer blacks watching baseball or participating in it, Does'nt mean the sport is dying.

I agree! My son plays on a 14U Premier team with a very diverse roster. Blacks, Whites, Hispanic and Asians.

a big reason participation is down across the board is because kids and teenagers are now specializing in one sport and playing/training for that one sport all year long. kids used to play several different sports throughout the year, baseball included. yes, baseball popularity is down in the black community because the way to keep up with the joneses at an early age in baseball, now, is to be a part of elite travel teams during the summer. those teams are expensive. conversely, a black kid from the inner city can play football at no cost to him or his family at the local high school. it's pretty simple actually.

This is true! Of course if Chris Rock had kids playing any sport on this level he would recognize this phenomenon that is occurring.

He has 2 daughters and is a pretty big sports fan. I'm sure they've played sports
