Since I live in DFW, I get the Longhorn Network shoved down my throat at just about every sports bar I visit. Today, I sit here actually intrigued by what's being televised. Former UT alums who play MLB are facing off in a game against the 2016 UT roster. I can't lie, its fairly enjoyable to watch. Have the Tigers ever done this? I would certainly make the trip from DFW to watch it if they ever added it. Would love to see the former tigers back playing at The Box

Do the pros have to hit with wooden bats?

We use to play an alumni game under Skip, and Smoke, but it was discontinued when P.M. became coach. There was also one exhibition game that we played a college team from Japan. They used wooden bats and we used aluminum. Schedule says we beat them 10-7 in 1999. We must have played anotherJapanese team at some point, because I remember us losing one game something like 5-3 to one of them.

ETA: my original post said the 1999 Jap team were pros, but it was a university team (Meiji University)

There were two games played on alumni Saturday; One between the current team and Bertman era alumni, preceeded by another for pre-Bertman era alumni amongst themselves. The current team used current college bats and the alumni used wood most of the time. I remember Todd Walker switching to a composite bat during one game. I really enjoyed those Saturdays at the old Box. I wish they would consider bringing them back.
