Dear Diary:
Sitting on a plane in Midland, TX and a guy makes a joke that it's going to Tuscaloosa. I proceed to say "I hope not... Geaux Tigers"

He then says he grew up rooting for Penn St and that a couple of years ago he decided to start rooting for Bama.

Frick that guy

honestly, this kind of thing is surprisingly common. I didn't realize that until LSU had a good year and I suddenly saw LSU gear popping up all over Mississippi.

fact is, people want to follow a winner...and if their team doesn't provide that, they will find a team that does.

ETA: add a couple of more words to your title or this will be anchored.

I've had some swear to me they weren't bandwagon fans and then try to fight me after I ask them "who was the coach before Saban?"

I remember when I first moved to Pensacola about the time Mike Debose was the head coach at Gump land. All I ever saw was an occasional faded Bama t shirt and maybe a rusty Bama license plate. There were no Bama fans. Since Saban took over this place it is overrun with bandwagon Alabama fans. I guarantee you if they lose a few games
those fans will soon dissapear. That would not happen to LSU fans here or at any place. Geaux Tigers!
