I'm going to attempt to do something that hardly anyone ever does with LSU games and that's be objective.

I firmly believe both teams have major question marks. LSU's, of course, are highly documented. Alabama I think is not that strong on defense. They have playmakers, yes, but they are inconsistent IMO.

I'm not a firm a believer in the two-QB system, but if you can take advantages of certain situations it works. Alabama's strongest point is their defensive live, Marcel Dareus in particular, so you know with LSU not showing much in the passing game they are going to stack the box early, so I would start JJ here because what you can do is give the allure of a run and hit Randle or Toliver or Shep for a quick slant and get major yardage. Do this and mix in bubble screens and quick outs you can spread the defense and open the run game on their D

Defensively, I think we match up more compared to Auburn. Bama is a pro-style offense, so they would run more conventional type stuff which is easier to prepare for because I don't see McElroy scrambling for a lot of yards. Where they'll beat us is in the passing game I believe Ingram and Richardson will get yards but using Maze and their TE's will be their strong point

Prediction - LSU 17 Alabama 21 (not happy about this believe me)

Sorry for the long post.

Thoughts?

Their weakness on defense is their secondary. We will probably not exploit this. Look for a game similar to last week on offense for us. We score 17.

BAMA is not world beaters on offense, but they have enough playmakers to score. I like the 21-17 score pick. Hope I am way wrong, but 21-17 BAMA sounds very likely.

Picking LSU to lose is no more objective than picking them to win if one is being honest about the outcome they expect and backing it up with reasonable information.

In fact, most of the people on this site pick LSU to lose just about every game, it's nothing new really.

While I admire your resolve, I don't think it's possible to be completely objective and compare talent and schemes in this game. Because in reality, Alabama should have blown us out of the water the last two years and they didn't.

Call it "getting up for the big game" or whatever you want, but there are HUGE subjective motivational factors in this game that simply cannot be put into empirical form.

I'm pretty sure this is not what he said or in any way shape or form the point he was trying to make......you fail.

You're right about the weakness, but I think we'll exploit a little. I think we get one big play.

Their linebackers tend to overpursue (see South Carolina game)

I think our LB's have problems in the passing game, so that's why I think they'll get their yards on the ground for a few big plays and hit touchdowns over the middle or on slants due to mismatched coverages on LB's.

LSU doesn't run a lot of misdirection.

True but the play I'm talking about wasn't a misdirection play. It was a simple RB slant from Lattimore.

I don't...

I figured we would beat UF and AU, but after 8 games, I ready to say that Alabama has the better QB, better offense and equal talent, and better game day coaching..so the edge has to go to Alabama.. Thus the -6 line on this game.

My prediction 27-14

No argument there.

I'll hold off on this one. While the body of a season would indicate this to be the case, Miles tends to bring something extra to the table in this game. In the past three years, I'd say that Miles has matched Saban and perhaps even slightly bested him in the last three games, but execution has doomed him.

2007 - Flynn's INTs
2008 - Lee's INTs
2009 - Jefferson, Scott, and Peterson's "injuries"

The biggest difference in this game is going to be those things that no one will ever see coming. Fumbles, INTs, injuries, penalties... all that held constant, I think that we'll beat them by a small margin... and if the crowd can mimic Jordan-Hare for 60 minutes, I think we can win by a sizable margin.

Not to mention LSU simply looked gassed in the second half of Auburn.

I didn't mention it earlier, but I am concerned that if Ingram and Richardson do get hot it will wear down the LSU D late in the game. Precisely what happened against Auburn.

Nah... what happened against Auburn was that our offense went 3 and out something like five times to start the second half. It's impossible not to get gassed when you're looking at that kind of lack of rest and you're facing a glorified triple option attack.

The secret to Alabama, just like it was at Auburn, is going to be a ball-control offense and making crisp tackles on defense. The execution HAS to be better though.

Wouldn't call it much of a secret.

Tackling a 6'6", 250 lb dude around the shoulder pads and mid-section also not smart...Just saying...ha

I don't know which was worse, this, or watching a DLman get into the backfield and chase Cam, only to watch him scramble outside for a 15 yard gain.

I AGREE! Was yelling at the TV everytime someone would try to wrestle him down instead of taking out his legs!

And I don't think that can be placed on the coaches. You have to figure the players had been hearing all week to go low on him. Defensive scheme in that game was great, defensive execution left a lot to be desired.
