It's obviously not working with Coach Jones. What basketball team in the SEC is competing with Kentucky? Look at all the SEC schools who have hired basketball coaches the past five years. Who's competing in the top ten, heck, the top 20?

Bama is trying as hard as any SEC school. Their last two coaches were solid hires who are not working out. SEC basketball is in the ditch.

Football is headed in the same direction. One SEC team consistently at the top and then all the rest. Something is not right and I don't know what it is.

what exactly are you trying to say tho, bc there's one top dog, the rest should be content with their current situations?

I'm pretty sure if LSU made a change, it wouldn't be bc Johnny couldn't beat Kentucky.

It's a bigger problem. Doesn't anyone see firing and hiring 11 SEC Basketball coaches is not working? It's a much, much bigger problem than any one realizes.

I honestly do not know what the solution is other than spending 30 million dollars on the best college basketball facility and paying the best coach in basketball 7 million a year to come coach and that's not happening. Heck, Vandy had a good basketball coach in Stallings and they canned him because he could not win in the SEC tourney with solid teams who would knock of Kentucky now and then.

Better than we are. Johnson is only in his 2nd year and lost a lot from last year. In spite of that, Alabama overachieved last year.

More like he took a job before there was a chance to fire him.

No LSU basketball fan is clamoring to win a championship. We just want to make the tournament every now and then. Like, just off the top of my head, the years when we have the number 1 overall recruit and future first overall draft pick and another McDonald all American on the team. I know, high hopes right

One of the lowest of the lows for me was after the 2012 BCS NC, we played Bama in basketball and they fricking crushed us with this gem:

Will LSU Cross Half-Court?

Just to add insult to injury, we lost that game as well.

Give it time and Avery Johnson will start recruiting his share of talent to that place. He does more with less.

Avery is building a hell of a program at Bama actually. They have a top 5 recruiting class as of right now and unless you're getting players like UK does, you can't turn around a program in one year.
Avery will do great things in terms of what Bama has been in basketball recently.

At this point, we arent trying to be Kentucky. We're just trying to be a team consistently in the tournament. (not the NIT)

The're 6-5 now, and maybe he's building a dynasty, who knows. All I'm doing is presenting the overall facts of what is going on in the SEC.

One and done has really drained the talent pool that exists for the college game especially when it comes to big men. You don't have time to develop a big man and much of a program if you are college coach. The moment any guy over 6'7" shows any real potential, the pro scouts swoop down and convince them that they will be a first rounder and they declare for the draft. Then they get to the pros and show that they are not ready

This post is idiotic in two ways. First of all, you've already been corrected by other posters about Johnson. I would also add Mike White to the list. I think the Gators replaced their legendary hoops coach with a pretty solid hire. Hired him from the state of Louisiana no less. I watch him on the sidelines coaching and then think about Jones statuesque sideline presence and it makes me sick.

But to make an already dumb post even worse, you add this gem...

Football is headed in the same direction.

You really should just log off for the day and reflect on the shame you've brought to the board with this dumbass nonsense.

Agreed... not going to happen. The trouble with college basketball is kids play 1-2 years and if they are really good, they leave. Only the top coaches are going to bring in consistent Top 10-15 players year to year. And that is the issue- consistent talent, year to year, not one top player every 3-5 years.
