With Newman going down for a few weeks (how long who knows?)... I feel like Bain could be a real key to the succes of this team, especially how well he has pitched the last few times out. And considering everyone's "fear" of bullpen depth he seems to be reliable coming out in long term relief when needed.

He needs to be. We're going to need someone who can eat up innings on Fridays or Sundays. I've always liked Bain. He's had high ERAs but since he's older I'd like to see how he does if we work him a lot.

yeah it just seems he just gets forgotten sometimes but he was reliable as a midweek and third starter early in his career. But feel like he could become very important come tournament time

The key is not to overreact every 2 or 3 days, and let this team develop. Beck looked awfully good in an inning or two as well. Some teams have good nights when others have bad ones. It happens we'll see what they have down the road, that's when it counts anyway right.

Not overreacting just making an observation that he's been reliable coming out and with a few exceptions here and there our bullpen has been questionable....

But when does the overeacting comeback get laid to rest about the bullpen because at some point it's going to matter... I know midweek games don't really matter and don't ever get my jimmies in a tussle but even in weekend games they seem to struggle a bit. At some point they have to turn it around especially with the injury to Newman, we need guys like Kiel and Peterson (I know they're young and this series will help a lot ) to throw strikes and come through when needed

Don't get me wrong the bullpen pitched great tonight I hope and believe it will continue. Having a few hopefully easy games should get our confidence up in the bullpen

Some youngsters are going to have to grow up in a hurry .

Bain & Beck have looked good as set up guys. Saying that I'd like to see Bush get some more innings as a LH out the pen. Good news is they expect Newman back in a couple of weeks. Hess and Peterson will get more work on the weekends as well which will factor into pitching in midweek games.
