I could be wrong but I think a factor in it is many people buying tickets don't give a damn about the game on the field but are there as a social event. They go, snap some pics, post on all their social media accounts that they were there then head home halfway through the game or to the next social gathering.

This has always been the case. Season tickets have been a status symbol in Baton Rouge for decades - long before the team was winning anything on a regular basis.

The fact is that people have so many entertainment options these days (live and otherwise) - it's hard to dedicate their attention to one single event for an entire day.

I gave up my season tickets after 15 years this season because it's just too damn easy to watch from my air conditioned house and recliner and not fight the heat, traffic and drunks. My sons have used them the past two years and they didn't even want to keep them. I keep saying technology is going to be the end of our society and it is slowly but surely taking its toll. Watch the stands and see how many people stay on their phones the entire game. It's the look at me crowd. Screw the game. I'm here.Selfie, Selfie. Give me the old days, a radio and John Ferguson and a little imagination of what's going on on the field. Those were true Saturday nights in Death Valley.

I am betting it will be pretty good. It is an unfamiliar opponent with a decent name brand.

I'm on board with this

I think the last similar home game was Washington in 2012, but that was a little bigger than Syracuse this year. Against Washington there was some extra buzz, but it wasn't a big time OOC game. Your friends will still have a good experience at the Syracuse game.

Atmosphere in TS died yrs ago. If it's not Bama game then you should expect 70% of the fans to leave at halftime regardless of score. It's sad but Tiger Stadium is not even in the Top 20 of toughest places to play anymore
Anybody that down votes this has no clue and hasn't been going to LSU games through 5 decades.

Been there done that since the early 70's.

The "Atmosphere" and "Noise Level" is not in the same Universe from game start to finish as it used to be. Not even close. (Except for Alabama and Ole Miss at Night)

The LSUAD has destroyed it with all their BS "Artificial Noise Makers" and proliferation of Corporate Season Ticket sales.

Too many "Johnny Come Lately Newbie See And Be Seen Status W's" in the stadium now that could care less about LSU and LSU football.

It's just something to do on 7 Saturday's in Baton Rouge in September, October and November.

It'll be one of the better games this year. They're all good to me.

I really believe that part of the problem with fans leaving early has to do with poor cell phone coverage in stadium. Cell phones have changed the world.

FWIW their fans were great when we played up there. Friendly people who enjoy their booze. They were very respectful of LSU, almost too much so, to the point where it was disarming. Coming from the SEC, you're just not used to seeing opposing fans praising your program.

The ones that make the trip should make for some fun guests.

I think the only way to compare tiger stadium on Saturday night today is compare to other top football programs who are trying to keep fans interested and entertained. I believe lsu stacks up at the top. But you cannot compare to the late 50's thru the 80's.when it was rowdy and craziness unexpected sometimes prevail ed. student section in the 70's was at least twice what it is now and along with the band had sections starting on the 40 yard line.

Give me the old Tiger Stadium without the upper decks and the rabid 67,500 that showed up and stayed until the end. Those were great days.
