The man has been a successful Defensive Coordinator
He never run a successful offense, defense,or program.
He has been a coach for 32 years and the only 3 years he has been above position coach was his ole miss stint. If O had proven to be a successful DC there wouldn't be as much negativity surrounding his hire.

If he was DC or DL coach or whatever at USC he was the Assistant head coach at USC for 6 years. He has been successful everywhere but Ole Miss.
There is huge difference between a dline coach and a defensive coordinator.

Where he made his mistake was taking that toilet of a job in Oxford where you cant even cheat yor arse off and win the division.
There is a difference between having a bad tenure and having the worst tenure in ole miss history.
Of any ole miss coach that's coached more than 10 games, ed orgeron has the worst win % and the worst conf win % in ole miss history.
For reference, Derek mason in 2016 won as manysec games at vandy than O's entire tenure at ole miss.

If you blame him for Ole Miss then credit him for his work at Miami, USC and helping LSU salvage last season after that team was ready to tank it. That is a fact.
I give him credit as an interim coach where he didnt hire a single staff member, didnt run the offense, didnt run the defense, and didn't choose schemes.
Anytime Ed Orgeron has been allowed to Coach more than 8 games it has been the worst thing in that school's history.fact
Hopefully that changes

I don't know about the USC games but are we really going to give Coach O shite for losing to Alabama last year?
I'm not "giving him shite" I'm just pointing out he was 1-4 vs quality opponents as an IHC. If you don't want to count Bama them he's 1-3. At USC he lost to Notre Dame and UCLA (USCs 2 biggest rivals) both were good, 9-4 and 10-3 but not Bama level obviously.

So you give him credit when we looked good against triple digit run defenses yet don't blame him when we don't execute ok offense?
If you recognize that my post was responding to someone else, perhaps you'd see that I was pointing out that it wasn't fair to give him all the blame for losing a game we were pretty well supposed to lose and dismissing his performance for winning the others.
So no, I'm not doing that at all. Quite the contrary actually.

That's exactly what youre doing when you post...
And then...
The offensive gameplan lost the bama game. When you tout how good we looked against other teams then say I'm not gonna put it on the coach when we lose as an underdog youre giving him credit for the wins and not blaming him for the bama loss.
We have been the underdog against bama in the last 6 games. Do you also not blame Miles for those losses?

But we beat the tar out of A&M, Arkansas, and Mizzou and the offense looked better than it had in a very long time with Miles.
And then...

Again, no it's not. I'm pointing out the inconsistent attitude in the post i was replying to blaming him for losses and not crediting him for victories. Not sure how many ways I can say it.
I personally don't ascribe him all the blame or credit for wins or losses and, as I said, feel as though the book is still out on him for that very reason and our limited sample size.

What inconsistencies? Who's not giving him credit for the wins and then blaming him for the losses? The only people that are inconsistent are the people touting how good we looked against shite defenses and the not blaming him for a loss where we were the underdogs. That's you.

You can't take those posts any other way than touting when our offense played good and then excusing the bama losses because we were an underdog.
If we don't blame the head coach for losses where we are the underdog then miles shouldnt be blamed for any of the last 5 losses to bama.
Miles and O are to blame for losses to bama regardless wether we are supposed to do or lose.

Go back and see my first post where I quoted what I was responding to. Dismissive of the wins, we're supposed to win those, and highlighting the losses against "quality" competition yet leaving out any context whatsoever.
quote:
The only people that are inconsistent are the people touting how good we looked against shite defenses and the not blaming him for a loss where we were the underdogs. That's you.
The problem is you seem to think this issue is dichotomous and you are assuming I must be taking the pro-O side, which is resulting in you reading things into my comments that aren't there.
Again, if you don't understand the context of responding to someone else's remarks and highlighting weaknesses in them versus espousing a black and white opinion, I really don't know what to tell you.
quote:
You can't take those posts any other way than touting when our offense played good and then excusing the bama losses because we were an underdog.
Of course you can't when you fail to understand that not all of us believe particularly meaningful conclusions can responsibly be drawn from either. Let me say this AGAIN, I'm not suggesting the wins are indicative of great coaching by O nor the losses of bad coaching. In fact, my reply was to point that out. I've now explained this twice so there should be no confusion on what my position is.

Are you under the impression that Clemson hasnt been in the TOP 10 in recruiting rankings the last few years?
2017 nfl draft
LSU 8
Clemson 6
And let's be honest if Clemson played in the sec their record wouldn't be as great. They play in conf with 1 other team that consistently gets great classes while the sec has bama, lsu, auburn, florida, georgia and a&m with great classes. That's not even counting ole miss' recent classes.

I understood his point but still, who gives a shite. Also a 15 man roster compared to an 85 man roster. Just no comparison to basketball any kind of way
